Me personally, I'm making less than I used to... so my advice isn't too helpful. On the other hand, my friends' site is making quite a nice chunk of change, but it's not a community site like this one, it's more of a classified-ads thing, which is a lot more suited to getting good clickthrough...

i pay the bills with the adsense on my site so i guess thats pretty good
