dearest .org "tech people"..


last Friday I tried - for about the 5th time since I've been an .org member - to post a picture of myself, both in a thread & to go with my profile..
nothing.


I understand that the .org doesn't want to host thousands of pictures (& the inherent memory usage) ; I don't have an AOL account, but I do have several Yahoo! accounts, & I created a "photo album" in 1 of my Yahoo! accounts, thinking I could use that "host" to link my pics there to be used here.


I know to use the "img" button before & after the link to the photo, but what am I still doing wrong?

is it a situation where the .org can't access pics in a Yahoo! photo album?

am I not using the correct Yahoo! page or link???


please advise me on what I can do to resolve this, & please keep in mind that I am VERY DENSE when it comes to even "basic" web design & programming ! so if you advise me, PLEASE talk to me as if I were a 2 year old !

I now have this.. strange urge to "reveal my true identity" - photographically speaking - or the org..!

I don't think you're supposed to use the "[IMG" tags in the profile. Just put the URL to the image.

Yahoo does not allow you to link to their photo albums. Many on this site use a site called photobucket to host pictures and it seems to work well for them although I have never tried it so I cannot speak of what is involved. I believe it is free.

I've overcome the problem of pic posting by using www.photobucket.com it's simple easy and fast...once you get used to it...oh and yes it's free, but donations can be made.

I have signed up with photobucket, I have 2 pictures there,
I just tried to post 1 in this thread using the "image tool" above..

& it's still not working !

what am I still doing wrong???

I think you need to find the option within photobucket to make the pictures public. When I clicked on your link it said I needed a password. I've never used photobucket but from what I know of the other photo sites you have an option to make pictures public or not.

A simple way to link your pics is to use "copy" and "paste" on the IMG URL under the photo. Simply "copy" the address and "paste" in your post. Review before posting

lovemachine - the "make public" option in photobucket.com I don't think I've done yet, this might (ought to) be the last thing to do for my pictures to be seen..
