With the "One Nite Alone" tour coming up, share about your Prince concert moments.."

I've been a Prince fan for 17 years now-- since I was in junior high school in the Philippines, starting when I first heard "When Doves Cry" in the American Top 40 countdown with Casey Kasem in 1984-- with its intriguing and engaging music. I was hooked then! I didn't really know any other Prince fans growing up (the movie Purple Rain wasn't a big hit in the Philippines; my friends were more into new wave groups such as Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, U2 and Depeche Mode). When my family immigrated in the US in 1987, it was a dream come true for me when I saw Prince in concert for the Lovesexy tour in 1989 at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles. It was my first concert experience ever. The crowd was deafening as Prince entered the arena in his white Thunderbird from the Alphabet Street video. I was numbed for the first half hour; I was so excited at seeing and hearing Prince perform live! There is a God, I told myself, because I never thought I'd see him perform live in my lifetime!

ONTHE1

At the tender age of 11 i first heard 'When Doves Cry'on holiday in America and that was that, i was hooked.

1986 (aged 13) i went to see the Parade Tour in London and was blown away. I remember Prince saying "I want all y'all to click your fingers like this, don't make no noise just click em"...aka the Purple Rain tour. I was highly embarressed relying that little sequence to my older brother when he missed it!

Next visit of Prince in London was the Lovesexy tour and I truely can't describe the feeling of seeing that tour live.
At the end of the show it will probably be the closest ive come to being on drugs. High was the word! There was so much happening on the stage, you didn't know what would happen next.

I could go on but i don't want to bore you stupid!

I would like to know where the people from the Controversy Magazine went. Does anybody know? I think the ladies name was Eileen and she produced an excellent Prince fan club magazine at the time.If anybody knows please drop me a line.

Freespirit

I have been listening/watching Prince since the Motion picture "Purple Rain" was created. Although it was not until The "Emancipation" Release that I became a daily lookout for Prince News (smile), it's like reading the morning paper... wink

The first Live Performance I experienced was during the Emancipation Tour, which I saw here in Phoenix, Az. Following his visit here... four months later he came again, this time to do his original music from the past, it was incredible! We attended an after party at the Electric Ballroom formally located in Tempe, Az., two of my close friends and I were not sure if Prince would show up... but we paid an additional 20$ (no biggy), and well worth it! Prince showed up perhaps 45 minutes later, and played a few more songs, including "The Ride"... which I will NEVER forget. We stood within 10 ft. or less from the front of the stage (looking up to what seemingly seemed a higher spirit), words cannot express the energy and emotion Prince releases as he creates... a very powerful moment indeed. Later after his short but fabulous performance, Prince sat at a booth for awhile talking among acquaintances and looking often at all the observers... needless to say we could not move (in complete awe), we stayed for the remaining time, even as people started to leave. There was a moment when Prince looked our way... and put his sunglasses down to glance in our direction... I will never forget! Brief but Priceless. That had to be the best Prince moment of my Life!

We have since been to Vegas twice to see his performances... all in the highest of excellence. We look forward to seeing Prince for as long as our Life permits. We hope to attend a Paisley Park gathering this summer if it does in fact take place... much to look forward to.

Hope all you get a chance to experience Prince Live in concert... Remember anything is possible if you want it bad enough... HEY, there is always VISA! wink Ok. All in moderation of course. smile Best of Luck and best wishes!

Julie
