Any Prince fans in the Western Chicago Burbs?

I'm new to spending time on the boards and learning that I have some opportunities to meet some fellow Prince fans in Chicago...

but do any of you live in close proximity to Naperville? Maybe we could carpool to the club some month or whatevs...

send me a head's up if you're in the neighborhood. It's time to have someone to talk about Prince with!

Not in the suburbs, but I'm in Lakeview, within walking distance to the club - you should drop into Berlin for the monthly party, you'll meet lotsa fun people.

How is Berlin? I would love to go sometime but I remember that club being kinda dirty. Do many people attend the monthly party's? Anyone?

Berlin is like any other small club. We Prince supporters come to congregate and tell stories of when we first saw Prince in concert, our favorite/worst song/experience. We women tend to stop dancing and stare at the videos because he is one beautiful man to observe.

The club is usually clean. You must have come when more people than usual were there and not the regular Prince crowd. When non supporters come to Berlin on Prince Night they have this NASTY habit of spilling drinks on the dance floor and throwing flyers on the floor, which happens about twice a year.

Security is pretty good walking around picking up empty glasses and bottles. It starts to get crowded around 11:30 p.m. I arrive around 8:30 - 9 p.m. to watch the movie of the month and hang out with the DJ before people show up. Around 5 people are in the club during the first couple of hours the club is open (8 p.m. - 10 p.m.). And we are the people that are in the 'KNOW'. I say around 200-400 people come through the doors on Prince Night. February, March, and July are the slow months. But listening to Prince music whether you're alone or surrounded by thousands is always a great experience.

Come out and enjoy! April is going to be great. June will be even better.

I appreciate all of the information as well.

It doesn't look like I'm going to be arriving with anyone if I come, but this makes me feel like I'll feel welcomed when I get there. I've been to a lot of clubs in the city, but never Berlin.

If anyone heads to this from the Western burbs, we could carpool! At any rate, I'd like to show up.

Well, Keith look for me if you get there early. I will have on my purple musicology t-shirt and black pants. More than likely I will be sitting at the bar with my buddies retelling for the 15th thousandth time of getting on stage in Champaign singing and dancing. Of course, I will have to act out the entire scenario. biggrin

Now, if you introduce yourself, please say you're Kacey from prince.org so I won't blow you off as one of the guys that come to the club just to pick up women. Of course, incognito isn't my real name, but if you ask for the girl that sang 'Take Me With You' in Champaign, someone is bound to point me out on the dance floor. I, of course, will introduce you to everyone I know so you will feel more comfortable... like family.

I love it, incognito! I love all of the "clues"!!! HAHAHA! I may have to print out the email so I don't mess things up...don't want to be a wallflower at what sounds like a cool place to be. Maybe my wedding ring will also be an indicator that I'm not just "one of the guys that come to the club to pick up women." But then again, I've never been there before and for all I know, there could be people there who don't share Prince's love 4 manogamy! hahaha!

You are making this more and more fun! Thanks

Any fun stories to share...once you recover?

Kacey,

The party was all right. Not to many people showed up, maybe 75-100. I left at 12:45 a.m. because I had to go to work today. Sam played the Vegas Video (released), CNBC Interview (4/19/04), Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in the beginning. He played lots of videos throughout because about 20 new people showed up.

Next month's party is Sunday, May 30, which is Memorial Day weekend. It should be packed since people will be home from college, it's the start of summer (semi-officially), and people won't have to go to work the next day, like moi.

June will be interesting as well. Prince will be in Chicago during Prince night (June 27). We doubt he will show at Berlin. But, I'm hoping he'll stop by to DJ a hot 30 minute set. THAT IS MY WISHFUL THINKING SO DON'T SPAZZ OUT!!! Of course, if he does come, we will have to wait until he leaves before we play songs like Sexy MF, P Control, Darling Nikki, Come, Housequake, basically anything with profanity.

Wow! Even the prospect of him showing up is amazing...

At any rate, I was planning to come in May because I knew I'd have the next day off...

Thanks for the update! Hope everyone else who went last night had fun

Australia? Do you by chance personally know Eric Bana that played David Banner or "Hulk" and plays Hector in the soon to be released movie "Troy" with the beautiful Brad Pitt?

Anywho, have no fear, we in Chicago will love you like family. "I'm a Prince fan/supporter" is the secret password.

You'll love Chicago and the fact that you will be here for Prince and the Taste of Chicago makes your timing that much more perfect.

Just send me an org note when you hit the Windy City!
