New Purple Celebration in Newcastle

I went to see the first Prince tribute act I've ever seen on Friday in Newcastle upon Tyne. It's taken me years to decide to give them a go but having previously seen the Bootleg Beatles and my other half telling me to 'get over myself' I jumped in with both feet!

I'm glad I did.

Kick-starting the gig with Housequake and 1999 the party was on! The musicians were superb and they clearly had a great love for Prince. They performed the entire Purple Rain album along with some massive hits and more obscure tunes.

The band themselves seemed to be enjoying their work too much! The drummer was clearly having a blast and everyone was clearly loving it. The singer was close enough to Prince-like without being overtly immatative.

I thoroughly recommend the New Purple Celebration. They are respectful yet retain an identity of their own and appear to genuinely love what they do. Awesome 😎✌️🎸
