Prince Is Getting an All-Star Grammy Tribute Concert

Well this is cool.

https://www.rollingstone....rt-934548/

Alicia Keys, John Legend, Usher, Foo Fighters, Beck set to perform with musical director Sheila E.

Alicia Keys, John Legend and Usher will perform at a special Prince tribute concert set to take place after the 2020 Grammy Awards and air on television later this year, Rolling Stone has confirmed.

Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince
will be held January 28th – two days after the Grammys – at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be broadcast in April. Past Prince percussionist Sheila E. will serve as the night’s musical director alongside longtime Prince associates Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The lineup also includes Beck, Common, Foo Fighters, H.E.R., Earth, Wind & Fire, St. Vincent, Mavis Staples, Chris Martin, Gary Clark, Jr. and Juanes.

There's more in the link.

I hate things like this. It really brings home the fact that he's no longer with us. Enjoy it by all means, but I'd rather stick a CD on and listen to the genuine article.

Any promise this announcement held ended with the words John Legend. The death knell was Chris Martin.

How this largely boring band of bland populists is supposed to 'honour' Prince is beyond me.

Agreed, but Beck and St. Vincent counterbalance these somewhat.

I hope Eric Benet is kept away from performing at the Grammy Tribute Concert for Prince. It's creepy enough that he performs covers of Prince songs during his concerts. Let Benet get on stage, he will grandstand and make it all about him for millions of people to see.

No.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

How is Janelle Monae not on there? Hoping Gary Clark does The Cross, that would be phenominal.

Chis Martin? No thanks, I don't need an easy listening version of Starfish & Coffee

I'm with Vault Curator. I don't give a damn about stuff like this, AT ALL!

I'd rather get vault music and video, myself from the Prince Estate.

I hope Susanna does "Take Me With U", I love her cover. So this is like an hour-long TV special? Nice. I hope Sheila gets to perform too.

I'm looking forward to it! I trust Jam and Lewis to make it right.

I was also wondering about why Janelle Monae would not be there.

D'Angelo?

I agree with you in your comments. If it isnt bad enough that his wife is also doing the same thing in Minnesota, using the hashtage for L4OA, instead of using her charity's name. Saying that "this was what Prince wanted through education and music". Perhaps he did but it isnt her place to do that....weird, very weird...both of them

Remember, they pay themselves first from Prince signature charities....😳
