Quick Celebration Day 2 review

- Austria 2014 was the concert screening. It was outstanding. She’s Always in My Hair, Purple Rain, Whats my Name, Guitar, Play That Funky Music, FunknRoll, ScrewDriver and a few others.
- Jeff Katz panel was also awesome.
- Grafitti Bridge panel was kinda boring but Ingrid looks great.
- Prince on Big Screen was same Charlotte show from last year. Great show, but damn near fraudulent advertising. The band was good.
- No substantial difference between VIP and GA again except VIP got a $500 boxed lunch.
- I have seen businesses just before they shut down. Paisley Park wont be here in its current status much longer. I am glad I came because things dont look good for the future. I think the people who run it are doing the best they can but there is so much dysfunction with the estate that they cannot run the place effectively. This s**t show will get worse when the heirs take over.

I am so glad that I decided to skip Celebration..... After two years, I just coudnt justify it this time around...

I dont think they get that we are seriously die hard fans and need some special stuff pulled from that vault...

and honestly.. they should have given you all a copy of the orignals release on vinyl

oh one more thing... of ALL the topics to focus on.. Graffiti Bridge???? Can we get a real down and dirty dissection of each track on SOTT by the people who were around him... I want insight into what that man had running through his head as he created the most incredible music we have ever heard.....

AARGH!

it is STILL so frustrating to be a Prince fan!

Why do you say this? Unless you think Graceland will no longer be running things?

John Bream gave the concert a decent review but said the place was maybe half full. I’m surprised he didn’t knock it for being the same footage as last year. Knowing that I’m glad I decided not to go.

I am in no way saying that I think Prince on the Big Screen is a good idea...

But Jon Bream says last year there were only 3,000 people there (he says the numbers this year are similar to last year).... but that place was pretty full last year....

Now, this event epitomizes what is going wrong (just in my own opinion)....

Seriously - give us a concert from the best eras .. this was not his greatest tour or even greatest show from that tour..........

Is there a reason they couldnt get a SOTT date or a PR date or Lovesexy or 1999 or Parade or Act 1/2 .... come one!

And then why not just do some version of this at PP... like show us a One Night Alone Show at Paisley where it is smaller, quieter and more 'die-hard' .....

And please please stop pretending that we all care about 3EG, Shelby etc... I seriously don't mean this disrespectfully.. but please just show us Prince... Everyone just hams it up and gets in the damn way.

And then to show the same thing twice?? you have GOT to be kidding me..... you just have GOT to be kidding me......

I am getting really worried that 3 years have passed and we are getting a terrible output from PP (yes I am aware that there are legal battles preventing some things from getting out)... but after 2 years of Celebration and going to PP... I don't think I have really gotten anything new, something that excites me and reminds me of how much I loved him and his music... OK I did think the NC2U was actually great.... but man, that's it?

I guess I am writing this out of frustration and sadness and concern too, I suppose.

I’m guessing a lot of this is out of Graceland’s hands. I went to the concert last year and it was very good. But no way would I spend $100 or $50 just to watch a video of a Prince performance. I think it’s wrong they did the exact same show as last year. That’s not how it was advertised.

Graceland need to make money. Reports are attendance is way down, and the pool of talent and features a available to drive repeat customers seems to be thin.

Minneapolis doesn’t have the footfall to cater for the passing footfall curious mainstream customers. Something’s gotta give.

A big sign all is not well with those in “power” of the estate – there is more exclusive footage among fans - even on YouTube... it’s staggering they can’t even play something. It doesn’t have to be digitally remastered. Just something rare.

Apple Music has the First Avenue show (allegedly) soon. How can they not negotiate a ‘first run’ of that.

Are you taking about museum attendance or the Celebration?
