Quick Celebration Day 1 Review - Jesse was awesome. His set was on point and the best panelist I have seen in 3 celebrations. He keeps it 100%.
- Very poor choice to kick off the event with the 1983 The Time concert. I love The Time, but I went to the Celebration to see exclusive Prince content. The live performances are associated artists. The concert footage must be Prince, especially on the first day. - Attendance is way down. Probably 40% down from the previous two years. Lack of Prince concert footage is the primary reason. I worry about the future of Paisley. During the intro, the implication was that the heirs will start calling the shots and I will just leave that there. I question whether there will be a Celebration next year. - I have toured paisley six times. The tour this year was the worst of all. The good guides were supervising and they had inexperienced guides actually conducting the tours. Glad I did the ultimate tour earlier this year. - They showed a 10 minute clip of the 2014 Vienna show in the video room (Forever in my Life, Controversy and 1999). That was all we got of Prince today. - I’m not sure there is much of a difference between VIP and GA this year but we still have 3 days. The only difference today was the VIP got fed. I wondered what attendance would be like considering not long before the event PP was still advertising ticket availability. If this event is going to survive I think they need to move it to June when the weather is better (there’s a chance for snow on Saturday) and they need better guests. At some point people will get sick of seeing the same people every year. Of course getting good guests costs money. My only hope is the Estate does whatever it needs to do to keep Paisley Park from having close down or be sold. I don’t care if it’s a museum or something else. Whatever it takes. Paisley Park is in your heart

Mpls shud take a bigger role and bring in some corporate sponsorship. Around June 7th seems like a better weekend. | |
