Celebration 2019

I just received an email from Paisley Park stating that Celebration 2019 will be held April 25 - 28, for next year only due to Easter holiday.

The email also stated that their would be a special enhanced VIP experience. I've done VIP for the last 2 years. Without really knowing what the line up was last year, I put my trust that they would deliver on their promise to improve on the year before. The VIP experience was not improved on. Some of the guests on the general admission were better than the VIP. (ie. Maya McClean VIP and Mayte and the NPG were general Admission??? ) So this coming 2019 will depend on PP giving advance notice of what they will be providing and who will be attending. The real party seems to happen at events outside of the celebration and your opportunity to meet people are outside the venue. I don't have a problem going out to MN and saving $1000 and just hanging out at all the events at The Dakota, private parties, meet and greets, etc. In all fairness, though, PP did get their overall act together for the event. The separation between VIP and GA is not really there except for sitting a little closer to the stage.

So Paisley Park, if you are reading this, please be more proactive in your planning and marketing of this event. I will not place blind trust in you and prepay the VIP Pricetag without knowing who will be there and see a true benefit in going VIP vs General admission. I am only one person but you need every person who has supported this event to continue to return. It's up to you to keep this alive and keep the fans returning.

THANK YOU

I couldnt agree more.

I WANT to support PP. I WANT to give them my $$ !

But they are making it REALLY hard.

This year was really lame at PP.

I thought they would have raised the bar and for me, it was lowered.

I did general admission last year and VIP this year.

I have NO IDEA what the difference was between VIP and GA.. except maybe i got to hold his oscar award. but that doesnt really mean anything to me.. i want MERCH and UNSEEN PERFORMANCES and UNHEARD MUSIC and INFORMATION!

I think PP thinks this celebration is for causal fans.. I dont know why they keep making it so 'basic'...

As of now, I cant justify doing PP celebration again. it was two years in a row of feeling left 'flat'..... but YES - if they make an announcement first and there is some really good stuff happening.. of course I will go..

But I don't blindly trust them anymore...

Maybe the early deposits are a good sign? (She says hopefully.) Raise cash, show interest, get the ball rolling for a great event?

I hope that's the case, since I'll be going to Celebration 2019 for the first time next year. I did the October 2016 Tribute, but it's tough to travel halfway across the country every year so I skipped a year. I imagine there will be a good mix of repeats and people like me who waited a year or two to see how it would all pan out. I've read the reviews and talked to lots of Prince-friends who went the last two years. Yeah, there are glitches here and there, but they've always been blown away by the event as a whole.

We already booked a lake cottage near PP and bought tickets for Glueck's. smile
And the MUSIC continues...forever...

I joined Paisley 5 & Dime on Facebook, and IIRC, there's a link on their page to the tickets.

Hope to see you there! wave

Thank U soooo much LovePaisley....I followed your direction and bought a ticket last night. I skipped the 5 & Dime event this year (with some regret) long story but I went to see Donna Grantis at the Dakota instead (which was amazing). Next year I look forward to this "Family" style event at Glueks which from the outside looks like a great place.

We'll connect via an org note as the date gets closer as I hope to meet U. I have been to both Celebrations and the Tribute you attended in October in addittoon to flying in from NY on 4/22/16 to mourn at the Park. I can yell you....nothing compares to the Celebrations. A kink or two here and there like a shower on your wedding day BUT its the best of the Best IMO when honoring P.

Thank U again for the info, I'll have to buy you one of my Famous Purple Martinis at Glueks!!! cool
