Live music coming to Paisley Park drfunkenberry (@drfunkenberry) 6/10/18, 8:37 AM Last night at @PaisleyPark After Dark @PRNFamily made an announcement about #Love4OneAnother charities being back & also bringing back live music to Paisley Park and the surrounding area. It is nice to know someone who can do something IS listening to the fans & what HE wanted. I wasn’t there so didn’t hear the announcement. I wonder exactly what this means. Will PP be opening it’s doors to bands to come play on weekends or something? Maybe a way to showcase local or indie artists? I think it’s a good idea. If the estate can do something for the ‘burbs that would be great. Especially the place Prince called home for nearly 30 years. I think they’d get more people to come than the current PPAD with just a DJ spinning tunes. They also need some cheaper options for people who aren’t interested or have already done a tour and don’t want to spend $60. Paisley Park is in your heart

I agree, and I sure wish they'd understand this (or, care enough to actually do it that way, at least SOMETIMES). I don't have the money to spend that much every time, or even very often, for a PPAD event, but if they'd have DJ dance parties that cost less I'd attend probably pretty often as would a number of people I know who are in the same boat as me, financially. Paisley Park would get more people and hopefully more buzz for themselves overall (which would lead to greater interest and more $$ for them ultimately) if they'd make some of these PPAD events/dance parties less expensive and more accessible to a wider scope of people. Agreed. I could afford to go but don’t want to spend that much money just to heat a DJ spinning tunes. Bring live bands there and charge half the price and I think they’ll get better turnout. They tried having local bands while Prince was still living in 2014. Most of the people that showed up were only hoping for Prince to play, which he did sometimes. The turnouts were not that great, probably less than 100 people. I guess people didn't want to drive all the way out to Chanhassen to see a local band that they could see in the cities for a fraction of the price. No alcohol doesn't help either. I've been to several of the PPAD dance parties and a lot of people leave to go to a club where they can drink. I'm not saying PP should start serving alcohol, just saying. It's too bad that the powers that be won't allow them to do the concert screenings of Prince shows anymore. Hopefully that will change one day soon. TRUE BLUE

I think live music could work if tickets were not too expensive. Paisley Park is in your heart

I'm not sure who was responsible for them discontinuing the concert screenings. At the time, I was just told to enjoy them while they last. I had heard this was something Prince wanted, so I wish they would start showing them again. . Unfortunately, I think the tickets would be expensive, condsidering the dance parties are nearly $70. Omar came up on the stage and made that announcment. Mentioning "love4oneanother" charity and live music inside and outside (across from PP) sometime next year.
I am all for PP also being used as a music venue, we should support real music by real musicians. I've always thought about why Prince didn't do events outside PP when the weather was nice.
However, this is the same person who tried introducing us to "new power soul", so i don't know what to expect for "live music"
by the way, Wally was also there on saturday night
