I am not so sure I do think it is the one in the book (it definitely had the black tape in the same spot) - however I am very suspicious that Prince did this to hide the "The Prinz" logo I am afraid if feels more like someone else did this to try to disguise the guitar a bit, especially as it is alongside some pretty classic guitars in the exhibition (Princes first national TV appearance guitar, his first customer built guitar and the bass that inspired the cloud guitars) I had a good look around the "MadCat" in the exhibition and can confirm that it is a cheap Korean built replica Would Prince really have "played this a lot" when he already had a number of high end replicas of the MadCat - and the original of course!!! It is the kind of thing that someone would have got for him as a joke!! We will never know but I personally think it was a way for the exhibition/family to make the unsuspecting public think that they saw "the" Prince guitar The sign in front of the guitar certainly implies that it is one of the proper MadCats - when I queried it with the guides they certainly also thought it was the one of the proper MadCats (so whoever trained them may have knowingly misled?). They said they would raise it and get the sign changed but I suspect this will not happen I’m not sure what you’re referring to. The Honer that’s on display at Paisley is different than the photo above. [Edited 11/19/17 5:12am] Paisley Park is in your heart

I would imagine Paisley has one of the "proper" copies but it looks like the O2 exhibition has a cheap Korean copy, which is being "passed off" as one of the original ones at the exhibition The book appears to acknowledge that it is a cheap copy but still claims he played it a lot

I got some cheap day return first class train tickets from Manchester to London end of December in the Virgin Trains sale, so planning to visit the exhibition late morning (train gets in at 10:15), so was planning to book the exhibition for 11:30, going straight there from Euston, TFL travel site says its 26 minutes away by Tube from Euston, is this realistic? also, if your late arriving, do you still get allowed in? just concerned incase train is delayed etc, but want to go straight to the exhibiton, then go to the west end until my return train in the evning.
Also, is the VIP tour worth £60 over the £25 GA ticket? it's my 1 chance to do the tour so was planning to do VIP, but the reviews for VIP don't state much more that's worth it? am I best saving the £35 for the shop? are they still giving away the Steve Parke book as part of VIP pack? that's £15 anyways and I was planning to get it, just wondering what people who have been to the exhibition think?

I was an hour early and they let me in. All staff were incredibly polite and helpful.

Thanks Silvertongue7, did you visit on GA or VIP? how long did it take to go around the exhibition?

I was there last monday. All in all i enjoyed the exhibition a lot. Some nice stuff to see... The critics are right though, some mistakes and all seems a bit rushed.
By the way, the guide said the next stop will be in the Netherlands.... Which city he did not know....

I went on the VIP tour. I thought it was well worth it. I showed up at my chosen time slot and from there the guide showed us in and took my group on the VIP part of the tour. Not sure how that would work if you were late, or how that would go if you choose GA. As mentioned, the guides were very friendly and helpful. Maybe they would still let you in. I did get the Steve Parke book as part of the VIP tour. I stayed for about 4 hours in total. I wanted to get a mug at the shop, but unfortunately they were sold out. Got a t-shirt instead (as well as an Elvis shirt for my 78 year old auntie who likes to Rock-a-hula, Baby ) Sure, there are some imperfections, but in all I had a great day.

I’ve just finished the exhibition and it was great. I did the VIP tour and spent about 3 hours there. The only negatives were that you couldn’t get your photo taken with the purple acoustic guitar and that they’ve changed it so that you get the exhibition programme instead of the Steve Parke book with the VIP package (I had to pay £20 for it at the store instead). I was told that the change was made as of last week. Overall though, it was great and I would definitely recommend it.

Cool, VIP sounds the way to go, shame about the Steve Parke book as I will have to buy that now.

Is the 90 minute guided tour with VIP through the whole exhibition, or just the VIP area?

In reality it was only 20/30 mins in VIP area and rest of tour with no guide. Still worth it id say. I don't regret going VIP but im going back at the end of December and just doing GA

I did GA yesterday - very quiet afternoon and thus had plenty of chance to study everything. Staff very friendly and pleasant. The clothes are my thing, I was especially thrilled to see the outfits from UTCM, I love that movie, and was in awe of the costumes generally - the beaded cape he wore to the Oscars is absolutely beautiful. Everything is so well made, with incredible cutting and tailoring - the clothes are works of art in themselves. I liked that you could get so close to them and study the fabrics and so on. I spent a good couple of hours in there, sometimes just enjoying watching the vids and then at others finding it quite emotional, there are some very touching messages on the “wall”. It was so strange to see items of clothing I must have seen a million times in the films and vids actually there in front of me in reality. As I expected the merch is expensive, I just bought a scarf which is something I know I’ll wear often and could justify buying. I was very disappointed there were no fashion books left, very annoying. As a window dresser/visual merchandiser I did feel the clothes aren’t particularly well displayed. The mannequins (understandably) are often too big for the clothes, especially the shoulders, resulting in distorted garments - I won’t bang on but some things, especially the beautiful white Lovesexy coat, look a sorry mess. Some should have been angled or side lit to illustrate the most interesting parts of the outfit etc. The strobe lighting in the middle was annoying as it meant you could only study the outfits for a few seconds before the light moved on. In all, enjoyed it, would recommend it, but it could be even better. I’m not worried that I didn’t do VIP, there is still plenty to see.

. Regarding the write-up's in the media and people who have seen the exhibition. Sorry if my wording was too vague.

I just can't believe for a moment that going to this relatively small exhibition (it's not like the Bowie V&A one) can compare in any way to visiting Prince's purpose-built place of work, play and residence.
