Should I take the Paisley Park Tour?

So, I've always loved Prince, but never saw him live. I own pretty much all of his albums and always had a dating observation that i don't like men who don't like Prince.
I wasn't a wonderful fan like a lot of you who would fly to see him, as I live in a state far from where he ever played (Montana), which I now regret.
Anyway, I'm by chance going to be in Minneapolis for a wedding soon and planned on doing the tour, but all of a sudden feel weird and sad that I never made it there when he was alive. Is it weird that I'm doing the tour? Should I?
I can't decide and wanted some opinions.

Thanks!!

You'll deeply regret not going when the opportunity presented itself.

By all means, yes go to the tour! Make sure you take the VIP tour as it is so much more informative and in depth. I went to Paisley Park this year for my birthday in May and was very happy that I did so. I, too, wish that I had made the trip to see him perform there before he passed away, but what's done is done. Also, it's quite easy to look up the locations of other Prince related places such as the house used in the filming of Purple Rain, the various murals that have been painted since he passed and his favorite Wrecka Sto Electric Fetus (they have a nice Prince area with t-shirts, books, cd's, etc.). We stayed at the AmericInn in Chanhassen which is 5 minutes from Paisley Park. It's a nice place (nothing fancy) and in a quiet area with great rates (for us anyway as we did a package deal with round trip air fare, car rental and hotel). We also took the regualr tour but it was not anywhere as great as the VIP tour. They didn't show us near half the things we got to see on the VIP tour. Oh, there are outfits worn by Prince and Jesse Johnson at the Planet Hollywood in the Mall Of America in case you make it there. Address of the hotel is 570 Pond Promenade, Chanhassen 55317

Yes, go. It's a magical place for both die hard and casual fans! It will make you love him even more - which is bittersweet but yes, do this!

It depends on your budget and how big of a fan you are. Hardcore fans enjoy it, but I would think it would be boring and not worth the time for casual fans. I took it twice and enjoyed it, but probably wouldn't do it a third time. It made me sad that Prince is gone, but I'm glad I was able to see where he recorded so much of his music. PP is a magical place.

I've been there twice already since October. (we were one of the few tours to make the cut on that first round when city council was giving them fits). I'm planning on going again the first part of September. I would go EVERY weekend if I could. Its so relaxing there. No concept of time whatsoever. It's amazing!! First time I got to spend about 15 min. chatting with Kirk Johnson. That was.........um.......odd. Our time there for that first time was around 3 hrs total. When I went in May, took about 2 hrs (general tour). The smells, the sights, its all so cool. Was neat the first time around, because we were also one of the very last groups to be able to sit at the piano before those people ruined THAT ever happening again!! I touched the keys on it!! Gave me shivers! And playing ping pong was crazy fun!!! (even though I suck at it). So yes, definitely go!! And do the VIP tour. And if you can, grab some food afterwards. If they have the coconut curry, get that! It's yummy!!

Thank you! What was odd about the Kirk Johnson conversation??? I was actually hoping he will be there, but I maybe too star struck to talk.

It was just a little strange to be talking to him. KNOWING he knew so much about Prince. And as far as I was concerned, knew more than what he'd let on to about Prince's death. (not meaning anything bad ...just that he knew more that what had been said, or not said). He was a very nice guy thru the whole thing. We met him in the editing room. Our VIP group was in there for a little while. When we walked out everyone was kind of just mingling around and our guide took myself, my daughter and one other person back in there quick. So there was 3 of us, and Kirk. That's when we got to talk a little more in depth. And find out some more things that weren't said when our group was in there. I asked some questions and I know his answer to one of my questions ...I must have had the look on my face of "omg...you didn't seriously just say that" eek ..... Because he back peddled and tried to explain what he meant by what he'd just said. As were were leaving he shook my hand and kinda rubbed my shoulder. All in all, he was a nice guy. Lots of knowledge about Prince and Paisley Park.

**side note...for those taking the VIP tour....make sure you see ALL of the editing room. There's more in that room than what they show. (what we were shown when the 3 of us got snuck back in there) shhh wink
