PP after dark dance party-is it worth going?

I've seen other posts saying it's kind of underwhelming, like maybe 20 people come. Months ago I bought a ticket for June 10, and back then it was listed as a concert night. I went online recently and now it 's a dance party. Almost want to see if Paisley Park will give me a refund. I know it says no refunds on their site but it never hurts to ask! I'm also thinking maybe attendance will be up since it's the week of his birthday? I already bought a GA ticket for another day, just in case my itinerary changed. Thanks all!

I am not really a dance-party-going person personally either.

When I bought my tickets, the site said Fridays had a dance party for the after dark event, and Saturdays had a special screening of some sort. So I went ahead and bought for Saturday.

Much to my surprise when I got there, it ended up being a dance party, so I was a little disappointed in that, and also I felt the DJ wasn't very good. He cut off songs too prematurely, most of his selections were fairly uninteresting/standard, and in general it was a bit sloppy. Some people danced a bit, but most people you could tell weren't too interested in doing the dancing thing.

Overall, if I want to jam to some Prince tunes, I'm more happy to do that in my home/car. For 60 dollars I don't think it was worth it, but if you had a good group of people, or the room really liked dancing, and it had a good vibe going, it might be a different story. But if you're not the type of person who normally does that sort of thing, you may be disappointed. With your attendance estimate, I'd say the number was closer to 30-40 at the start.

I now see they only offer PP after dark on Saturdays, Fridays is long gone, and the screening events are no longer mentioned. I am sure the staff there are continuing to tweak events and tours to figure out what works best, and maybe the screenings will come back again some time.

It was kind of neat sampling some of the food Prince enjoyed eating (though I guess you can just do that in the tent anyway), and even though I had just visited PP earlier that day, I had no issues with revisiting the tour. For the 60 dollar PP after dark ticket, my primary value came from looking around a little more at some of the rooms inside, soaking in the energy of the building, and taking a few pictures of the exterior of PP with the purple lights on and a moon overhead.

I think you might be right that they may do something a little special given the week you are going for the event, so if I were you I would probably hang onto my ticket and hope for the best. smile. Hope this helps.

They should offer you a refund in the email they sent telling of the change. I traveled from the Philadelphia area was very disappointed they changed it to a dance party. I was thisclose to cancelling but figured since I traveled so far that I should just do it. I purposely reserved Saturday for the concert footage.

I should have cancelled. I had a VIP reserved for the next day and that is the ONLY tour everyone should take. I am glad I did two tours because I got to look at things during the VIP and linger longer on what interested me.

The dance party was *yawn* but I'm not a big dancer party type of person anyway and like Savoirfaire said - I can listen to ALL the Prince songs at home and in my car.

So...yup...cancel it and get a refund and go on the VIP tour.

Thank you both for the feedback! I'm asking for a refund, or an exchange for a VIP ticket. I love dance parties, but if I want to do that, I can stay home! $5 cover vs $75 = easy choice!
