Review of Celebration Day One I am track 2 GA. They started with a 45 minute video of his March 2014 Holland concert. It was moving and made the whole thing worth it. The part when he spoke about Paisley Park had everyone in tears. It was clear to me that he was saying goodbye.
Then was the panel with Damon Dickson, Levy Seacer, Morris Hayes and Tony M. That was great also with the Prince stories. It made me like Tony M more because he is an OG and goes way back with Prince along with Damon. Still dont forgive him for ruining Love 2 the 9's. Food was next in the tent. They did they best they could, but eat before you come. Prince didnt eat the stuff they were feeding us. The tour was terrible and Paisley Park should be ashamed of themselves. They rushed the tour. You could not walk in the rooms like the Lovesexy, SOTT, his office, etc. They did not even take us to studio B or the reflection room. Very disappointing. I have alrady toured it twice so it was no big deal for me but some people came overseas to see Paisley Park and they didnt get to see it. Kinda defeats the purpose. There are no more tours on the schedule. Again, this was unacceptsble. People paid over $500 and should get a dman proper tour. Last was George Clinton. George Clinton was George Clinton. Funky. A million band members. Lost the audience with some of the unfamiliar stuff at times, but brought them back with the hits. Van Jones, Damaris Lewis, Tyka, etc were there. Tyka hugged almost everyone and is very sweet. God bless her. [Edited 4/20/17 20:49pm]

Thank you for the review. I missed day 1 and will be coming in tomorrow for day 2. The tour info is disappointing. Hopefully they remedy this issue tomorrow. (Insert something clever here)

im going to be gentle, since i am sure this was a lot of work to put together.
but this was a hands down, 100% LET DOWN.
I do not want to hear rushed anecdotes about prince playing dress up with your child. I want to experience Paisley Park, I want to LEARN more about my idol, I want to party, I just wanted to soak up as much as I could of his spirit. I wanted to SHOP and Spend some $ too!
Instead.... I watched a video film of his worst band - I mean, couldnt they have AT LEAST spared us a Hannah drum solo? I was like THIS is how I am starting my first time at Paisley Park?
Then like cattle was prodded into a bunch of uncomfortable and cold rooms where there wasnt enough seating.
Then.. a surprise guest was George Clinton who was basically asleep in a chair while his 50 piece band did all the work.. and they didnt even sing We Can Funk...
WTF was this?
I dont even feel like I went to Paisley Park..
And Im not even gonna get a proper tour of the Lovesexy and SOTT room? WHAT?????
Im serious, this was terrible.
oh and please don't get me started on the food.
wow. just wow. | |

All 4 books are great. The problem is they were almost impossible to purchase. Long line,,not time to purchase and they closed it early. I disagree with the poster about the video. It honestly made up for the rest of it, but we all have different opinions about his bands. I happen to love 3EG so to each his own. I won't be feeling the Revolution today but I am sure most fans will love it. The tour is unforgivable. That is their job and it stunk. I feel, very bad for those that came from overseas. You did not experience Paisley Park and that makes me sad for you. Anyway, today is a tough day. In about two hours marks exactly a year that they found my Prince in that elevator. Tears go here.

i'm wondering if they decided to offer tours on the monday after the celebration because they realized that tours during the celebration would be too hectic to go at the usual pace?
i'm impressed that george clinton is still doin it, kind of honored that he agreed to do that show.
the combination of it being their first day of hosting this size of celebration (hard to know what to xpect) + it being the day b4 4/21, its a challenge to satisfy everyones xpectation flowing through the veins of the tree of life...purplemaplesyrup

Sorry to hear about the disappointment and frustration but glad that some have found bright spots. Sending much love to all those in attendance and praying that today will be a better day for all.
donnyenglish, that concert film would have worked for me too until Prince invited everyone to meet "next time" at Paisley Park.
Thanks to all for sharing.

I had a great time. I thought the film was fantastic. I love 3rd Eye Girl and seeing a concert film on that huge screen with THAT sound system. Amazing. I have not heard a better sound system anywhere in the world than at Paisley Park. Panel discussion was fun but quite short. Hard to get a lot of stories in that brief time but some funny stuff about Prince playing practical jokes and about being onstage at the American Music Awards when Prince wore his assless chaps! I thought the food was just fine. I'm a vegetarian so it was cool with me. The tour WAS rushed and badly organized. That was my one big complaint. Really did not get the full tour experience but at least got to see some of it. I was THRILLED to see George Clinton! What a surprise. To be funking with George from 2:30 to 4:00 in the afternoon! He did not abide by the no cussing rule at Paisley though! He did the whole "We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn!" chant as well as "Shit! God Damn! Get off your ass and jam!" THAT WAS A TREAT! Can't wait for tonight and some Revolution action! [Edited 4/21/17 10:23am]

Keep it comimg y'all. I want to know what's going on. Was kirk there? I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

So U ended up feeling them? I did. Not in a musical way, but they are grieving with us and helping us get through this. Hats off to them for that.

I'm sorry the tour wasn't better and am hoping things got more ironed out over the weekend. I would want to see his office more than anything and would really disappointed if I couldn't. But I am glad for all the good things about the experience.

The weekend did get a lot better
I still feel badly that I posted a negative review of the first day, but maybe it is good that it is out there. I think many people were really underwhelmed on that first day. It was a confusing day to say the least and I think it at least represents some of the improvements that many of us want to see for future events: Less Panels or at least let them have more content We do not need a host MORE unreleased / hard to find videos More organization, so much time was wasted being herded back and forth and then on line for merch. Unless you were a VIP, you would wait your entire lunch to get a shirt. So you could choose: eat someting or buy something. More merch! And of course - PLEASE let us experience the museum and the compound more. It was almost like a twilight zone episode .. we flew all the way here, for many of us, it was our first time at PP.. and we got a terribly rushed museum tour.. BTW, we couldnt even go into the SOTT or Lovesexy or D&P rooms! This is the thing that stung the most... We dont live here and it isnt so easy to just come on back.
I dont mean any disrespect to the workers or Prince's family and I felt badly the other night if my post was unkind. You can tell there was a lot of work put into this.. there were many beautiful moments - the video of the Piano & Mic Tour just tore everyone up, it was incredible.
I am glad I came, it was a beautiful weekend

I hope you leave feedback with Paisley Park. The best way for them to improve it in the future is to get honest feedback from those who were there. From some of the posts I saw on Facebook I don't think the die hard fan girls will be giving much feedback other than "OMG it was the best 4 days of my life". Paisley Park is in your heart
