I would absolutely prefer it to be on June 7th.

True. Although, if he didn't celebrate birthdays, I would guess he wouldn't have celebrated death days either, afterall, they are both ways of marking time which is, as we all know, a trick Regardless, any day that celebrates Prince I am down with!

Initially the timing of the celebration seemed a somewhat odd decision to me.

However, I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall watching Prince state during a TV interview that he would celebrate the day he died (possibly the interview with Scary Spice).

Perhaps part of the reason his friends and family chose to hold the celebration on the anniversary of his passing may be to reflect this sentiment?

Reputedly Prince didn't celebrate his birthday, so I can appreciate why they aren't holding the celebration on June 7th.

I suppose the anniversary is as appropriate a time as any to come together and celebrate him, though I suspect it may be difficult and very emotionally affecting for some to be in Paisley Park on April 21st. At least for me no doubt it would have been.

He quit celebrating birthdays after getting brainwashed by Larry Graham!!! I watched a video of him Wishing Happy Birthday to Cat or one of his Band Members during The Lovesexy Tour! All I do remember it was singing Happy Birthday to one of his Band Members during some Tour. Matter of Fact is was sweet seeing P singing Happy Birthday all this before Wolf in Sheeps Clothing came along...
