You spent all that money solely to go to Paisley Park?

Yes. I have no other reason to randomly travel to MN

I'm in the same boat, Purple. While I was planning on doing a bunch of other stuff in my weekend in MPLS (some Prince-related, some not), I don't think I would have picked MPLS for a random 2-day getaway if not for the PP tour.

I'm happy that some are getting to tour. I have tickets for the 9th. I haven't received an email from PP about how to get tickets for the 8th. Has anyone else seen an email update from PP to those of us in this situation?

This is exactly one of the reasons why I didn't purchase a ticket. Sometimes when things are too good to be true, they usually are. I'll save my money and wait to see PP next year thank you!

A news outlet reports that the 6, 8, & 14th are sold out. That those holding tickets for the 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13th dates will be emailed regarding a refund. I understood this to believe that only those with tickets for the one of the three days will be touring. The rest of us, are up a creek.

More brilliant planning in effect. Did it not occur to Paisley Park management (or the city council) that there are lots of fans coming next weekend for the tribute show, who are hoping to still tour Paisley Park? So they limit this opportunity next week to only one day (the 14th)?

Seems like it would have made more sense to have a couple of days open next weekend to accommodate the extra demand.

no I am still waiting too.

But the way it sounds is whatever available slots are open on those dates mentioned will be first come first serve basis.

That I do not like.

I need to know now. I did purchase a concert ticket too on the 13th so I wish they would hurry up.

I am not all keen on viewing Princes' belongings in a mall either. I want to be inside PP and feel his spirit.

Looks like I may only be going to the concert. Not sure how many slots are left open on the 14th. They should have kept the 13th because that is the day most people are flying in for the concert.

Seems to me they could solve all this mess if they just had the fans park at his old gold house property with security and parking guards directing the fans and showing their tickets and id at security shack driveway and parking then shuttle bussing the fans to paisley park.

Why dont they make use of the property still there?

It is not far from paisley park but still rural and out of the way of the freeway conjection.

I have been told there was also a private road driveway that went from his gold house property directly to paisley park and may have gone underground under the freeway but that kind of sounds upsurd and batcave like going directly to his underground garage at paisley park. It probably was just a more direct and private road route above ground to paisley park. Anyway, shuttle busses would be better for the community and keep fans cars from being parked along the roads surrounding paisley park and therefore less fans hovering around the perimeter and instead inside the gates of paisley park and safer from freeway traffic which was the city councils concern in the first place.

I can understand the gate thing in the future. Needs to be more secure if paisley park becomes a national museum or monument. Terrorists like vulnerable places to hit. So they should put up a wall as long as it is clear see through so fans can still see it comeing up the HWY. At night turn on the dirty switch security scan alarm for trespassers and back up FAR!

Yes "they" should if you mean the gov't officials should allow that. The Estate really can't do much about it if the gov't is saying it's illegal to have the tour on that day.

wow, only tickets available on Oct 14th are after 5PM, and I can't fly back late. I tried for the morning session but it was sold out. I may just cancel my entire visit until next year. I had a feeling I should wait until after that meeting. I just had a feeling.

They are also moving artifacts out of the house into a mall. No thanks. If I'm able to cancel my concert ticket then I'll save my flight for next year. really annoyed.

Does anyone think they can turn down turning PP into a museum?

No. The city council didn't want to look like they were just being a rubber stamp. My guess is they might get a few additional special permits but it will open full time next spring. This is probably when it should have opened all along but they pushed it up to try and accommodate fans coming in for the tribute concert.

Here is what Tyka said on ET

She's also looking forward to the opening of "Purple Rain" singer's Paisley Park compound in Minnesota, which will opens its doors to the public as a museum on Oct. 6 for a limited time before its official opening in December.

Does anyone have any more info about what's happening for people with tour tickets on dates later than oct. 16? I'm one of those people, and other than an initial email about the council vote I've heard nothing (about rescheduling, refund, etc).

I think probably right now PP is on a trial basis. Maybe they'll issue more temporary dates after the city is calmed down about the traffic issues and to see how smoothly it runs. It's probably gonna be a wait and see game. Unfortunately.

I bought an Oct 13 VIP ticket and have received NO word from Paisley Park yet, and I emailed them yesterday requesting to be moved to the 14th if that's the only possibilty. Like so many, I bought RT airfare from Boston and I'm supposed to fly home the night of the 14th.

I'm feeling concerned that PPark have not updated yet....no offer to chage the date, and no offer for a refund. I'm sure they're scrambling, but this was horribly handled.

Hey guys, as Dec. 11 VIP ticket holders from Nova Scotia Canada, I share your concerns as there are four of us travelling to MA and like many, we've already purchased flights, hotels, passes, etc.

Needless to say our hearts sank at the news. Leave it up to Gov't officals to put a stick in the spokes! For those of you so inclined, instead of contacting P.P itself, (who are solely being dictated by the Council of Chanhassen), why not write directly to the council members themselves?

Below is their address:

council@ci.chanhassen.mn.us / Add the mayor into the mix at:

dlaufenburger@ci.chanhassen.mn.us

** The Mayor is pushing hard for them to conclude sooner than later. Perhaps he could use a massive influx of mail, to support his case!

I just sent off a letter today. Power to the people!

I think it's good to write to Chanhassen officials, but ultimately PP is not their business to run. I think there's no harm in getting in touch with the people who actually run PP (Graceland, I guess, at this point) and let them know what options you'd be open to (touring at a different time/day, getting a refund, etc.) , which may help inform how they negotiate with the Council (along with letting them know directly that you do expect to be made whole in some way).

-

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get in touch with Graceland, or if there's a better point of contact to use.

Paisley Park Museum: The first day

from: http://www.swnewsmedia.co...6a875.html

... .. excerpted...

Fifteen minutes before the first Grayline tour bus pulled up, Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of PPark Management, which will manage tours for Paisley Park spoke to media. "It's really, really an emotional day today," Weinshanker said.

"We've been working for weeks to open Paisley Park to the public. Prince did, and wanted to share Paisley Park. He had laid out in great detail, from his emails, texts, and messages from the people who worked there, people who he trusted while he was alive...they are the same people who are working here now, working with new staff."

Earlier in the week, plans to proceed with the Oct. 6 opening were seemingly stalled when the Chanhassen City Council voted 3-2 to table action on ......

But on Wednesday, the city of Chanhassen issued a temporary permit, allowing tours to take place Oct. 6, Saturday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 14.

But on Wednesday, the city of Chanhassen issued a temporary permit, allowing tours to take place Oct. 6, Saturday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 14.

Weinshanker said that for the last 36 hours, PPark Management worked to move ticket holders to one of those three dates.

"There are several thousand people who will be here today," Weinshanker said. "We're at capacity. We'll be at capacity for the next few weeks. We were able to satisfy the people who already bought tickets. After that it will be up to the city council to decide.
