The Prince and Michael Jackson Experience I've gone to a couple of these before when I lived in Chicago and really enjoyed these events and meeting fans of either artists. I moved to Charlotte, NC a couple of years ago and miss going to these events. Here's the schedule of these events in these cities, if you're in the area (wish I could be there): 9/3/16 @ Madrone Art Bar, San Francisco, CA 9/10/16 @ Resident, Los Angeles, CA 9/16/16 @ Neck of the Woods, San Francisco, CA 9/17/16 @ Beauty Bar, Chicago, IL 10/1/16 @ 7th St. Entry, Minneapolis, MN 10/9/16 @ Coda, Philadelphia, PA 11/5/16 @ Madrone Art Bar, San Francisco, CA 11/19/16 @ Resident, Los Angeles, CA 11/26/16 @ Nectar Lounge, Seattle, WA More dates will be added; check their Facebook page for details. Maybe even suggest cities that they would go and hold these events. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

That said, while it will be bittersweet for me going to one of this knowing that both artists are now gone, it will be a great way to celebrate their lives through their music. From DJ Dave Paul on bringing The Prince and Michael Jackson Experience in MN next month: "As a long time Prince fan and a long time DJ what does it mean for me to play at 7th St Entry at First Ave this coming October 1st? > EVERYTHING I've wanted to bring this party to Minneapolis for years. We started working on booking this show in January. It took 6 months, 5 people and 74 emails to make it happen. It might have happened sooner but P transitioned in April and that slowed us down. I don't remember the first time I heard Michael but I remember the first time I heard Prince. I was 12 years old. My next door neighbor Eric was a few years younger than me but his older brother Andy was about 16 and played guitar. Eric told me I had come over to their house to hear this new record. They played me some tracks from his second album and I said “she sounds good.” They laughed and said it’s a guy and he plays all the instruments. I thought they were full of sh*t because I didn’t understand about recording and multi-tracking back then. So I wondered how is he playing guitars, drums and singing all at once? Then they showed me the album jacket, shirtless on the front and naked on the back riding a Pegasus. I was like, “wtf?!” After that... Dirty Mind came out and I was intrigued, Controversy came out and I was feeling it, 1999 came out and I was hooked for life. I collected all the vinyl; albums, 12 singles, 7 inches, picture discs, imports. What I could not get from Bobby G at Soul Disco Records (he would get goodies from the WB reps) I ordered through Goldmine. This was pre internet days so it was snail mail, faxes and money orders. Posters, magazines, cassettes, buttons etc. I collected everything I could find on Prince. I was often ridiculed by people because I was such a Prince fan. Called a "n" lover and called gay because I listened to his music. Funny how most of those people now claim to be "fans" of the purple one. I guess people are just scared of what they don't understand. In 2001 I wanted to do an all Prince party in San Francisco but there already was Dream Factory in the Bay Area. So I always put the party on the back burner. A friend mentioned why not add in Michael Jackson. That sat with me for a while cause as good as MJ was, I was really about Prince at that time. Finally I decided okay, let's do it. I brought all my Prince records and my friend brought all his Michael Jackson records and on Nov 1st, 2002 it began. After 327 parties in 35 cities I'm finally playing one of the cities I've always wanted to play. It will be bitter sweet because our Skipper is no longer with us. But his music lives inside all of us and music lives forever. See you soon Minneapolis. Long live Michael Joseph Jackson and long live Prince Rogers Nelson.
