Minneapolis Meet-up?

Hello,
I have decided to travel to Minneapolis for the first time ever in order to pay my respects to our Prince. I am coming over from the UK as I feel I just need to be there to say goodbye (although I still can't quite believe it and partly expect a new tweet or piece of news anytime soon). Anyway, if there's any Minneapolis folk (or any other people making their way to Minneapolis from 29th May-7th June and you want to meet up then please let me know.

Hope you're all finding your way through this.

I am still loss for words. Visited Paisley Park last week an all I can say is I never seen such an Out Pouring of Love. For me being there though no music was actually playing, I could hear Prince songs, was like I could feel his presence, or Gods Presence for his approval of Prince, truely was is and always will be Love in every aspect of his life, even now in another world of Heaven.

I too am planning to get to Minneapolis around June 3rd or 4th and stay a few days. I am coming from Detroit. Not sure if that exact time will coordinate with my work schedule but this is my hope. I have family there and have been many times. It is a beautiful city. I feel like it's the only thing I can do to see if it relieves some of this pain. Nothing has helped so far.

I will be in Minneapolis also June 3-5. I know of one event that is already sold out. Does anyone know of others?

I just landed from Minneapolis!

I saved Paisley Park for today (Memorial Day). I saw a message on the fence from someone from Sheffield UK - was that you Elodie?

For all of you who are going, the New York Times has an article about visiting Prince's Minneapolis. Using the links, I was able to go everywhere. I am unable to paste in the link but google NY times "How to see Prince's Minneapolis" which was printed on May 16 (great photo too!).

I am really happy that I went. From my hotel room I could see the Schmidt music mural which made me cry but was good. I danced to Prince music at First Avenue, saw Chase and the Ovation (the only sacntion tribute band and amazing) at Bunkers and went to Dakota Jazz Club.

Went to Electric Fetus music store where he bought music the day he died. They have a great special secton devoted to Prince and I got one of his albums.

I hope all of you find hope and healing in your journey.

Sounds amazing, Susan! So glad you had a great trip. I have that article and am hoping to go this weekend and stay through the 7th for a
Bday party for him in town that night. How long were you there?

I went for the 3 day Memorial Day weekend - managed to get 4 nights out of it as I left work early on Friday to fly out and caught the last flight back Monday night. I would say a little over half my activities were Prince related and then did some other cool Minneapolis stuff. If you are only going for a regular 2 day weekend you might not have time for non Prince stuff but if you do, I would recommend: the Saturday market near the Mill Museum on the river, the artist designed mini golf at the Walker Museum, outside concerts at Harriet Lake Bandshell and edgy theater productions.

Here are the Prince related things I heard about for next weekend:

Thing Called Life at Parkway Theater

Let's Go Crazy at First Ave

Both are sold out though

On the 7th Roller Garden in ST Louis Park is having a Prince night of roller skating.

If you are into roller skating at all the Roller Garden is a neat place.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I too want to go, it seems everything has kept me from doing it for the last month. I'm a long time fan and can't stop thinking of the great loss we all are feeling. I watch all the shows that I have recorded since his passing and have a purple marathon on weekends watching all his movies. I will definitely look up the NY times article for things to see and places to visit. I think another reason I haven't gone yet is that I'm holding out for a proper tribute gathering in Prince's beloved Minneapolis.Lets hope it happens

I've read in a few different places how his family is planning a memorial/tribute for the fans that will take place this summer, and just the other day I read it may be in August. That was the first time I'd read any sort of even ballpark date given for when it might take place. I hope more info comes out soon about it and there will be plenty of time for those from a distance to make plans so they can attend.

I hope the fan thing happens. I went there a few days after he passed and it was crazy. Prince songs blaring from every car, a dance party - and a Bob Mould show at 1st Ave. I got a tracking shot and pictures of the line to the dance party which wrapped all the way around the block. It was crazy. The streets were packed as late as 4am - and later - but I had to crash.

Also, is that right - the flowers, fan items are still on his fence at PP? Apparently the day I was there leaving my purple flower with my family some of Prince's family/friends came out to give some sort of lush velvet purple box with fan items in them? I wish I had been there for that - but going at all was a part of the mourning process and I needed it very badly.

Hope the trip goes well!

A few weeks ago they took down all the flowers and gifts and such that fans had left at the fence, but they ('they' meaning the PP staff) did it very systematically and put everything in marked bins for each section of fence, and they stated that NOTHING was getting thrown away except for the flowers that had died and couldn't be kept. I read that they're planning to display some of the items at the future memorial service for fans (whenever that will be).

I'm glad you got to visit Paisley Park and leave your purple flower. rose I hope it helped in your healing process.

I was there on Memorial Day (purposely) and there was still plenty of stuff as people keep coming and leaving stuff. There is an artist there who is making great paintings from photos of Prince. So you will still see some great and moving tributes.

There are lots of tributes still there and fresh ones going up all the time.
Beautiful vibe in Minneapolis. Met a lot of lovely people. A very special 9 days that I'll never forget. Thanks for the Love Minneapolis. I felt so at home there and was made to feel very welcome by everyone I met, especially when they heard I'd come all the way from the UK just for Prince. Now I know why he stayed there. I'll be back as soon as they announce that tribute!
