The gathering of Orgers in Minneapolis was a smash!

It was really great to meet new faces and reconnect with old ones.

Maybe because there are just so many 'new' orgers around here now that don't know most of these people (by face, anyway)?

I recognize a good number of them, but I've been around this place 10+ years.

I would have liked to gone to this get together but there was basically so little details given about it here on the Org, and the FB link on the other thread didn't work and nobody responded to my queries about atteding, so I got the impression this was a private party (or maybe it was just me? ) and so I let it go.

Glad you all had a fun time though. Everyone looks great!

Always have so much fun at these invasions! Seven years is too long between. (Wait, The 2008 one was super secret...)

I MET RHONDA!!!!!!!!!! I've chatted with her online for damn near 20 years!!!

Some of my favorite weekends have been spent with the people pictured above and I can't wait for many more!

I took a trip out to Paisley Park on Friday. The front gates were open that day, but I didn't pass through them, given the "Private Property" and "Video Survelliance" warning signs. Having been inside the building on several prior occasions, I was satisfied with this picture.

Post-dinner drinks and dancing with violett, CarrieMPLS, Muse2NOPharaoh, and PurpleJedi at
Clubhouse Jäger on Saturday night. Nice house-y DJ set, all vinyl.

Too bad the gates were closed when WE went...otherwise there would DEFINITELY have been some major trespassing going on!

Well, the Invasion thread on the org did die and the whole discussion moved over to facebook well before the invasion started, as I remember.

I don't have a Facebook account so I had to rely on orgers who did to relay to me all the meetup information.

Thanks. I didn't reply at first because I only recognized a few people besides Jedi. I recognize Zombie, Anx, Stymie and Carrie but I can't believe I didn't see Rhonda back there.


Nice to see everybody.

I keep meaning to post a real "recap" on this threadm but it never happens.

So;

Meeting everyone was really nice. Seeing the old faces again and meeting new ones...amazing.

Day 1 was the formal "meet & greet". The pic that I posted with Heartbeatocean was that evening (at the pre-dinner meal). The 'real' meetup was at Grumpy's



Afterward some of us walked down by the river and the Stone Arch Bridge.


Day 2 was rainy. Some went to the museum by the river, I drove into Wisconsin with Violett, Stymie, & RhondaB where we met up with Eskimokisses for brunch then walked around a bit


then at night we met up at The Depot next to First Avenue for dinner



Day 3 started off with Brunch at a Mexican joint and then we hit the sculpture garden and the Basilica of St Mary





Then afterwards some of us drove over to Paisley Park


Dinner that evening was when that big group shot was taken (afterwards obviously). Here is a followup next to that sign that appears in Graffiti Bridge


Day 4 started with brunch, then a ball game for some of us





Ending with dinner at Betty Dangers for some of us



That was pretty much the end of the formal Invasion I would say.

Day 5 for those of us still around started at the Mall of America


...and for myself and Heartbeatocean (the only 2 left straggling around Monday evening) ended with the surprise concert by Alabama Shakes at Paisley Park

It was fun. But the Prince tease at Paisley Park still pisses me off. No respect!

Yes it was...but if you REALLY think about it, getting teased by Prince is actually pretty cool. Something to tell your grandkids about one day.

(...it was the summer of 2015...holoconcerts hadn't been invented yet...and this Orger and I rushed out of the Alabama Shakes performance to get up close to Prince. Little did we know that he was sitting in his observation room laughing at all of us with aching feet, and so just when the room filled up with excited fans, he handed us a banana with the word "psyche" written all over it by telling the guards to clear the room...")

It makes a good story. But it's tacky behavior in my esteemed opinion.
