Holy crap, my account still works! I'm going to try to be there for at least some of it. All depends on work, though.

Just out of curiosity...is it true that you ladies will be purifying yourselves in the waters of Lake Minnetonka? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

What is this event about? I'd love to come but I'm not even sure what it's for

Baseball is fun if you are there in person, and have drinks to drank.

In general these events are simply to meet others you’ve gotten to know/chatted with online in person and hang out. There’s no Prince-themed event happening in town (at least not yet that we know of). It’s more about having some fun doing touristy things in (in this case) Minneapolis with other like-minded folks.

Whew. I see that place as a necessary evil. I shop there on occasion (and it's a good cardio workout in between the stores I like to go to) but avoid it otherwise when possible.

Ex-Moderator | I posted this on the facebook event page, so here goes here: I put together a list of touristy suggestions. These are all just ideas and some are weather dependent. I tried to stick with things that are located in downtown or otherwise easily accessible by public transportation (or a cheaper cab ride). This is most certainly not an exhaustive list of all that is available, just a jumping off point of ideas. If there’s something specific you want to know about or want to do, by all means, please ask.
Carrie’s recommended Museums Mill City Museum - Learn about Mpls history - http://www.millcitymuseum...plan-visit Super cool parks Stone Arch bridge and river parks – great downtown combo w/the Mill City Museum, the bridge goes over the Mississippi and there are both trails for walking and biking and a few places for food and drink on Mpls’ oldest street, still cobblestone. Minnehaha Park – a short ride on the light rail from downtown, there is a waterfall, hiking trails, bike rentals and a restaurant w/a beer garden. One of my favorite places in the city. Chain of Lakes – Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet and Lake of the Isles are all in close proximity to each other. A few have outdoor restaurants for snack or a meal. Nice people-watching for sure. Canoe and kayak rentals. Shopping/Wandering around Uptown Mpls – A short bus or cab-ride from downtown – Take a pic of the Uptown theatre, wander through Calhoun Square, grab a drink or a meal from one of many bars and restaurants. If it’s nice we can wander down to Lake Calhoun also. Lake of the Isles isn’t far either. Mall of America – For those who really want to shop. There’s an amusement park in the middle, but the rides are mostly for the kids. For the US folks it’s mostly the same stores you’ll find in any mall, but they’re bigger or there are more of them. Also we have no sales tax on shoes and clothing, so it’s usually a deal comparatively. Dinner/drinks/nightlife First Avenue – Of course. Nothing scheduled for our dates as yet, but I’ll keep my eye open for what events are taking place. Great to combine w/dinner at their restaurant next door, The Depot. - http://first-avenue.com/ Betty Danger’s Country Club – A short bus or cab ride gets you to NE Mpls (my ‘hood) and this “country club for the 99%”. Drinks, food, mini-golf and a “vertically revolving patio” (ferris wheel with food & drinks). http://bettydangers.com/ I think by May they’ll also be operating their shuttle to their sister/brother establishments Psycho Suzie’s Motor Lounge (great patio for drinks on the Mississippi) and Donnie Dirk’s Zombie Den (my personal fave, it’s a tiny place w/great décor and craft cocktails). We can check out all of the above if we wish. Bunker’s – If you’re not worn out from Friday or Saturday, the Combo plays on Sunday nights. You’re Prince fans. You should know why we’d go to Bunker’s. (Other) Live Music or Dancing – Again, as we get closer to the date I’ll look at what options are available and make some suggestions. Brunch Hell’s Kitchen – my personal fave for brunch in downtown, the food is good and there’s often live music. (I wandered in one morning to find Jellybean playing on stage and I see an upcoming show for Cornbread Harris (Jimmy Jam’s dad and a super fun piano player). We’ll likely need to make a reservation well in advance as they are very popular on weekends. http://www.hellskitcheninc.com/ Pizza Luce (pronounced loo-chay) – One of the better pizza places in Mpls, they also do a great brunch and accommodate crowds well (also a very accommodating menu for all diets, plenty of vegan and gluten-free options, etc.). http://pizzaluce.com/
