London: Prince-based DJ set, Spiritland, Thu 27 Nov Hello again, I'm doing a night of PRINCE (and Prince-related) tunes in a new bar/restaurant/whatever called Spiritland, in the heart of the dreaded Shoreditch, on the evening of Thursday 27th November. The emphasis is on sitting/chatting/enjoying the music rather than leaping up and dancing, so there will be quite a few slower or mid-tempo choices that don't normally get played in clubs. It's free admission, and runs 7pm-11pm so it's not a crazy late one on a 'school' night. Anyway, full info here: https://www.facebook.com/...2534547656

Hello again, just giving this a quick bump because it's this Thursday. If any London-based Org-ers come along, do say hello.

WHAT I PLAYED IN MY ALL-PRINCE (AND PRINCE-RELATED) DJ SET AT SPIRITLAND
Waterfall (Wendy & Lisa) Money Don't Matter 2 Night Rock'N'Roll Love Affair I Wish U Heaven Gold Do U Lie Love Is Contagious (Taja Sevelle) The Question Of U International Lover Gotta Broken Heart Again Starfish & Coffee The Laydown Eye Hate U Pop Life Love Thy Will Be Done (Martika) Something In The Water Does Not Compute Adore Bob George Givin' Them What They Love (Janelle Monae feat. Prince) Anna Stesia Bambi Black Sweat Mountains If I Was Your Girlfriend Nothing Compares 2 U (The Family) Erotic City When You Were Mine Screwdriver A Love Bizarre (Sheila E) The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker Do Me, Baby Little Red Corvette Stand Back (Stevie Nicks) Controversy She's Always In My Hair Raspberry Beret Hot Thing The Bird (The Time) Sexy MF Girls & Boys Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad Uptown Peach Jack U Off Manic Monday (The Bangles) I Feel For You Batdance Guitar I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man Sex Shooter (Apollonia 6)
...then I had to go and get my train, but I found the venue's copy of The Very Best Of Prince and left that playing, so at least everyone got to hear all the massive hits I didn't include in my actual set (“1999”, “When Doves Cry”, “Kiss”, “Alphabet St”, “Gett Off”, “Let's Go Crazy”, and so on.)
Thanks to everyone who turned up, sat, drank, sang along, came over for a chat, and even danced to a couple of tunes (most notably “Girls & Boys” and “Sex Shooter”).
Sorry that the volume kept getting turned down – it was a constant battle with restaurant staff who didn't seem to appreciate that dozens of people had actually come there to hear the music – and thank you for bearing with me and understanding.
May U Live 2 See The Dawn, and all that stuff. xxx
