PRINCE FANS IN NYC!!! COME TO THE PARTY!!! Why We Are Celebrating PRINCE: A Tribute to the Man and His Music
BK Nation and the Freedom Party, the longest running music celebration in New York City, are proud to present The First Annual Tribute Party to Prince. A major showcase of the music and legacy of this universally acclaimed genius, this is a salute to one of the most important American and global artists in pop culture history. Self-taught in his instrumentation and vocal style, Prince changed the path of music as soon as he released his first solo album in 1978. Since then, Prince has touched every genre of music. From rock to jazz, hip-hop to funk, Prince has penetrated the membrane and soul in a way no other artist has in generations. He has influenced endless performers, like D’Angelo and Alicia Keys, in addition to generously mentoring other musicians, such as Morris Day and The Time and Beyonce. Hosted by pop culture curator and writer Kevin Powell, this Prince tribute will include Freedom Party deejays Herbert Holler, Cosi, and Marc Smooth, plus a live music tribute led by The Soulfolk Experience, one of New York's best bands and vocalist collectives. The tribute will also feature a never-before-seen video and photomontage of Prince’s performances and casual moments, produced exclusively for this event. Please join us in properly celebrating His Royal Badness this Friday, June 7th, at Le Poisson Rouge (located at 158 Bleecker Street between Thompson Street and Sullivan Street) in New York City's Greenwich Village. Doors open at 11pm.
