Anyone interested in attending a London based – Prince & associated artist’s night at the end of July or the end of August 2012?

The night will celebrate 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s – to present day Soul, Funk & Rn’b originating from Minneapolis. It will predominantly feature music pioneered and inspired by Prince, (The Time, Vanity 6, Sheila E, The Family, Jill Jones etc); along with music from Minneapolis acts Jesse Johnson, Mint Condition, Sounds of Blackness and Ready For The World as well as classic rnb music produced from Jam and Lewis (Alexander O’Neal, Janet Jackson, etc).

Just need to gauge interest before setting the wheels in motion...

Depends where for me, am in N5 area, if I can make it then yes, great.

Damn... Am I in the right place? I thought that this was a forum for dedicated Prince fans? I thought Prince fans were about being the 'Life o The Party ' and 'New Power Soul'. Ladies - 'Hot Thing', 'Kiss' & 'Raspberry Beret'. Where are the 'Sexy Dancers' at? Gents - 'Gett Off', 'Sexy M.F'. & Mutiny! 'Eye Know' that the London crowd has been missing a celebration. I like the idea of the Weekender - but damn 2013 is a long time away!'...

London Orgers in all honesty when was the last time you heard 'Feel U Up', 'HouseQuake', 'Billy Jack Bitch' or 'Le Grind in bar or club played like it should be played - Loud?

Why am I bringing this night to you with associated artists – we want nonstop Prince, right? Well like P said we need some Ol' Skool Company - the likes of The Time - 'Jerk Out', Alexander O'Neal - 'Fake’, Mint Condition 'Pretty Brown Eyes', Andre Cymone – ‘Dance Electric’, Chaka Khan 'I Feel 4U', Sheena Easton 'Sugar Walls' and Sheila E 'Glamorous Life' & ‘Love Bizarre’ are all part of the Minneapolis 'Musicology'.

I've got a DJ who wants to spin non-stop Minneapolis Funk all night - he wants to hit you with 'Soft & Wet, 'Erotic City' & 'I Wanna Be Ur Lover' - then he wants slow you down with 'Crucial' 'International Lover' & 'Adore'. Tell me what your reaction will be like if he plays ‘BlackSweat, 'Sticky Like Glue' & 'Good Love'?

In the time of Cameron's Austerity Britain - I promise not to hurt anyone's pockets in terms of an entry fee or prices at the bar.

Maybe I'm a little wide-off the mark - maybe the London Orger’s are interested in this night?, but you all seem to be 'silent' forum users (I know what thats like because I used to be one of them). However, in order to finalise this night I need an indication that it's what people want - so I've got to come to the Org and other Prince fan related forums in order to gauge the interest.

Us Prince fans are a 'unique' bunch of ‘Girls & Boys’ which is the reason why nights like ‘Minneapolis Funk’ are 'shamefully' a rarity. Those from outside of London - you are of course more than welcome too!

So shall ‘We’ have this party or what?

Great idea but with the Olympics stuff going on the thought of travelling to London is a bit off putting and hotels will be overpriced.

Could do with a purple boogie, how about after the Paralymics has finished?

The Olympics is 27th Jul - 12th Aug and The Paralympics is 29th Aug - 9th Sept. A date after these events would take us into late Summer. I'm thinking about a date in between the two -

Saturday 18th August or Saturday 25th August (Bank Holiday Weekend).

How does that sound?

18th August sounds good, hopefully by then the weather might of improved
