PURPLE RAIN LIVE-ISH LONDON

Hello people,

I'm trying to get tickets for the Jan 21st showing of purple rain live-ish at the Prince Charles Cinema. The website says they are sold out? Has anyone got any spares? I need 5 in total! Also - does anyone know if there wil be kareoke like last time?

Huge thanks.

Can't believe its sold out already, the last one never sold out this quick, maybe its a mistake? or they may free up more tickets nearer the time? Really need two tickets.

I was at the last one and we were the first one's on the karaoke doing Raspberry Beret...ish!!! I have 8 tickets 4 this one but I don't think it's a sing-a-long. I tried to confirm this yesterday with the Prince Charles cinema, but they didn't know eek !!

I have emailed them today, as I may not attend if it isn't a sing-a-long as I got these tix as it's my cousin's bday that day also, and this was supposed to fit in as a fun part of the day.

So I may have 8 tix if they get back to me and I think I will attend the 3rd Feb show instead which is definitely a sing-a-long.

Let me know if anyone's interested otherwise they have offered me a refund.

Just an update on this event and future Purple Rain Live..ish events at the Prince Charles, I emailed them this morning and got the following response.

Thanks for your email.
Firstly I want to clear something up, which I believe confused some folks on the last performance. Our screenings of Purple Rain are not part of the 'Sing-a-long-a' roster, they are an outside company who regularly hire us for their fun-filled events.
But as you would have witnessed last time, at our performances of Purple Rain we welcome people in the audience to sing, cheer, quote along to the film as it plays unfolds.
Sadly our Karaoke hosts THe House Of Hot Breath, who were at the November performance, have cancelled their pre-show, I was emailed on Friday evening and have only just read the email myself, and will probably not be at our February performance either so we are hoping to find some form of pre-show entertainment to fill their gap in the coming days. Hopefully we'll find something to keep you entertained before the film starts (I'm sure we will).
The price difference is down to an overall change in our pricing structure, as these events are not cheap for us to host (extra staff, film print, hosts etc) and nothing to do with a change in content. So you will not be "short changed" due to paying less this Saturday. Also the time differences are down to other performances scheduled on the specific dates. This Saturday our film before finishes later, hence the 21:30 film start time, and the earlier one in Feb so it can start earlier.
I hope this all makes sense and I hope you have a great time on Saturday.

So I will be deciding if I'm going 2nite, so the tix may be available, I will update tomorrow.

I was one of the Alphabet street karaoke ladies (the one with the glittery boots!) Think I'll do the Controversy look tomorrow. Might be a tad chilly but hey, will suffer in the name of Prince!

We will definitely have fun tomorrow whatever the case.

See you soon!

Yea, be good to meet up....I'll be in my trademark purple denim jacket with gold symbol lapel and purple Purple Rain movie t-shirt. Not sure what my sis will be wearing (she's a bit of a newbie to this Prince stuff, her first gig was the Hop Farm last summer...she was blown away of course! ...it'll be the first time she's seen the film to so should be interesting!)

I've been to a couple of Org meet ups before. I was at the big old meet-up we had at the O2 for the last show there back in 2007 (21st Sept was it?)....and I was at the Prince boat party the following summer....think it was around Prince's birthday, as they had a big puple symbol cake for him and we all signed a book they were going to send him. I won second prize in the raffle that night, a whole load of 12'' singles that are now up on my wall....happy days!

What a great intro to the movie. I wish I got to see in in the cinema first! I've always missed the Org meet ups. I really wanted to go to one of the boat parties too. Are they doing one this year?

*Note to self- Look out for giant symbol tonight, and also purple denim. If in doubt just smile and say hi anyway*

What a great evening! Havent laughed and sang so much in ages!

2Sevens, I loved your outfit...was a shame my sis and I didnt get there earlier (have to wait for ages for our bill in the restaurent we went to before hand!) as it would have been cool to stand and chat Prince with you before the show. You and your friend should definately come along to the next boat party, they are so much fun...and we could always do with a couple more hotties on the dance floor! biggrin Not sure if there is one this year, I'll do some digging and find out,

Days Of Wild, your symbol necklace was awesome, I so have to make one myself. We saw you dancing down the front. My sis and I were in the backrow so that we could get up and dance without annoying anyone! smile

Props to the guy who came dressed as Prince's bodyguard and the guy who came as Dr.Fink! Great night, thoroughly recommended.

Hey, for anyone who would like more, please join the regular Purple meet-up in London every last Thu of the month (yes, that's 26/1 as well!). We meet, have a pint and argue about bootlegs, remixes and which protege is the worst singer.

Horse & Groom pub; 128 Great Portland St from ca 7pm onwards (most people arrive around 8pm), please join us, we'll make you feel welcome!

Hi all,

Went to the Purple Rain showing last night (3/2//12) at the Prince Charles cinema, great fun, loved the conga line going around the seats for the finale. The host who was running the show last night said it was likely that they would run it again, possibly March this year. When I queried abot other Prince showings. UTCM, GB or SOTT. he was enthusiatic but they need to see a demand. We need to bombard their facebook page or the customer feedback page on the Prince Charles website. So if we wanna see some more of our beloved Prince we need to demand it.

And the girl I spoke to in the second from front row from Hemel Hempstead who was with her mate, please get in touch and say hi!! jeff.witter@hotmail.co.uk

Aww thanks Dave! Was lovely meeting you guys. If you hear anything about the boat party do let me know. We would definitely be up for it! Ah the chick bodyguard outfit had me dying with laughter! It took me a few seconds to realise who he was supposed to be, but when I did I was howling!

Pheremone, I will definitely hound them for the other movies. I didn't go to the PR showing on the 3rd. I was at the D'Angelo concert. Fantastic gig!!! Jesse Johnson was playing with him too, but I'm guessing there's another thread on that...

Lady in White, Thanks for that info, i didnt realise there was a regular meet up!!

Days of Wild, Hello sweetie!!! You were so funny that night. Hope you had a lovely time with your cousin.

xx
