North of England UK Purple Christmas party

Anyone at the ENDORPHINMACHINE gig this weekend will have seen a TRULY amazing gig biggrin ! and i mean totally mind blowing eek ! the venue manager was so blown away (despite NOT being a Prince fan at all eekwink ) that he's asked the band if they'd play there on the 23rd of December if he opens the place especially, the band said yes, and it's on, biggrin a funktastic phenominal band of Prince mad genuis musicians who put on a show like you've never seen, (unless of course you've seen Prince live back in the day!) So one for the diary, 23rd DECEMBER, THE MOSES GATE, FARNWORTH, NEAR MANCHESTER, this gig has only been announced today. I took some great photo's of the latest gig so those who know me just ask, and i will post, the ENDORPHINMACHINE web site is currently under reconstruction so bare with me!wink smile biggrin eek

Well well, we have a pedant! wink and one who doesn't seem to have been made aware that Manchester IS, and always WAS described as, 'in the North,' or to be more precise 'the North West'. If you want to be pedantic you could say that the North east, (as in Newcastle) is actually 'the North', but basically, although accurate, this type of observation is totally pointless, as the whole of the UK accepts, and has done for centuries, that the north east is precisely that, and Manchester is 'up North', just ask a Londener. Up here we say London is 'down south' I hope this doesn't upset or offend you as much as the 'Manchester is in the North' shocker that seems to have rocked you to your very core. I truly hope you make a full and complete recovery from my revelations, and who knows, maybe if you're out of hospital in time, and learn to drive, then maybe you could steal a car and pop up North, down South, across to the East or West, or from whichever direction you need to travel, and get your pedantic ass to the 'NORTH UK Purple Christmas Party' where after the fantastic live entertainment we can go through your collection of ordinance survey maps of the UK, and list precise compass points for every city, town, and village.

peace, love and ...yes, you truly are unique!

nothing pedantic about it. manchester is in the south. that's a fact. its in the mid west of england. carlisle is north west, newcastle is north east

just cuz it's north of london means nothing. london isn't the centre of the universe

the easiest way to tell if you are in the north or not is if you can tell when someone is taking the piss or not. ergo you are in the south

Well, if you lived in Manchester as 'dozens' of people do, you would switch the tv news on every night and hear, 'welcome to north west tonight', Manchester IS and always was and will be in the North of england, and no oldy worldie map from a cafe placemat can say otherwise, Birmingham is in the midlands, manchester in the North, don't get upset though, consider this a lesson in geography, maybe you missed out on school cos you couldn't find it on your place mat! no matter how you interprit where YOU think it is, you will not change thousands of years of history, look it 'oop', wikki says, 'Manchester is in the South -Central part of NORTH WEST ENGLAND', and wikki are never wrong, God writes it, and he should know!! So, ....are you going to this fine fine gig then? peace and love and loads of respect, hey, there's a cheap sat nav on Ebay!
