NPNY Night @ FEZ Discountinued I am sad to report that effective immediately NPNY Night @ FEZ has been discountinued.
I can't give too much details, but because of owners and management having issues with a certain type of music played in our DJ Josh's EXTREMELY wide rotation. Josh decided to quit his Friday and Saturday Gig at FEZ . I am personally disappointed in the owners and management of FEZ and there close mindiness. They apparently don't care or are unaware that more 80 perecent of the music played at FEZ is by request of its patrons and not totally the decesion of the DJ. This type of close mindiness is unacceptable and should not be reward. I ask that everyone to please discontinue patronizing there establishments.

Hmmm... were they upset about Prince music being played? If it was "Prince Night" why would management be upset about that... or maybe I'm not quite on point with what happened.
Anyway, sorry that had to happen to ya NPNY. Y'all are good people. Find another joint and make Prince night better than ever. Make it so hot that patrons of Fez will follow you and start going to y'all's new spot!! Let us know where your new hangout will be and if I find myself in NY I will certainly stop by and support you!

Had nothing to do with the "Prince Music", Just a particular genre of music being played.. Hopefully we will be able to find a new place. Its was hard enough find this local and a Prince friendly DJ in New York City.

Hey, Im the Prince-friendly DJ, Josh, and I really have to thank Derek publicly for his generous support. We had it good for a while, although I always wished that NYC represented a little bit more.
There was no problem, per se, with the Prince music, but rather with the "hip-hop". I played a wide range of music, including tons of Prince, especially on those nites, but always did anyway. It just happens that hip-hop is the most requested music by all colors of people (and I like it!), but the management was unhappy about one shade (of people) in particular so I quit. I was extrememly incensed, and saddened. I really liked my job and the people who came to hear me. Thanks for coming everyone. If I find another gig, I will let you all know, but I really am quite soured on the whole thing right now. Purplehead

For those who don't know Josh used to rock the joint!
Sorry to hear about that Josh "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

Josh, I had the opportunity to meet you back in December 2001 at the Fez. You are a cool DJ...Everyone loved you there (including the 3 lone members of the NPNY who showed up to those things).
