Kiwi Orgers group

Just been noticing in a Rainbow Children thread, the number of Kiwi Orgers coming out of the Woodwork. Maybe we should start a fan group for Kiwi Orgers. Holla back at me if you want to start one. I am thinking we could organise get togethers where we discuss Prince.

Look at our Prince material

Discuss him and his music

Even start a facebook club

And most radically buy some time on a community radio station and do a Prince show every now and then, where we play some of his more obscure stuff (Good Love deserves to be heard).

So if you are interested let me know on this forum

1. Your name and age (Not that important but are encouraging adult level of fandom so preferably no under 16 year olds), and gender.

2. How long you have been a fan of Prince

3. Whereabouts in New Zealand you are located

4. Facebook page if any (So we can link the Facebook group together)

5. Favourite albums just out of interest's sake

6. Any skills you could add to the group (Eg, a DJ, organiser, computer whiz etc)

I will start off

1. Tane 34, male

2. Since 1989

3. Auckland

4. Tane Kevin McManus is my face book page

5. Sign o the Times, 1999, Dirty Mind, Parade, Crystal Ball, Lovesymbol

6. Organising, presidency, manager, DJing, writing and mailing a newsletter

So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Great idea.

I don't think we will have too many teenagers wanting to join in all honesty but they would be more than welcome as far as I am conceived.

Shane 36

1989

Live Northcote, work Ponsonby , AKLD

Don't do facebook

Dirty Mind, Purple Rain, ARTIAD, Parade, The Gold Experience, TRC biggrin and Lotus Flower

I am not bad at organising stuff.

It does feel like there are hardly any rell knowledgable fans here with all the albums etc. I am sik of putting cd's on in the car or at work and all people want to hear is Raspberry Beret.

Did any of you guys hear a dreadfull 2 part (1hr each) radio show on concert FM 4 years ago about Prince. It was me, my friend was a producer at national radio and asked me to do it depspite no writing experince. I am quite embarrased by it but it would be nice to think some fans heard it. I know Jiminoone from Dunedin and your heard it eh?

So if there are a few aucklanders here let's have a meet in the pub.

Calling New Zealand Orgers!

Ok, so Ive waited a long time for somebody else to do this, but it looks like Im going to have to bite the bullet and do it myself.....

So recently I have come across a few orgers living in NZ, and I think its high time for us to come out of the closet and have a little get together.

All that is required at this stage is a show of hands of how many of us there are in NZ, and your location. Then the serious planning can begin. Im assuming most of you live in Auckland, so it should be no problem having a gathering there, especially since the arrival of jetstar and cheaper flights (a weekend away for $100, perfect!)

well then, who are you and where are you??

As for me, Ive recently arrived back in NZ after living abroard for 6 years. I have been exiled to Chch, so if anybody is local orgnote me, and we can get together

wink lol

I am Hamish, and I have been a fan since 1982 (yes, Im that old!)

I currently live in Chch, after living abroad for the last 6 and a half years.

You can face book me here http://www.facebook.com/hamish.whitta

I dont have any obvious skills to add to the mix, I work as a tour guide, so I can do just about anything.

If there was a meet up I would defintly come up to Auckland for it. I was going to Australia to meet some org friends, but I would much rather visit Auckland.

As for my fav songs and albums, I will tell you all about it when we meet up!

.

Hi Hamish and Lust (I love that name so much), it all sounds great, a pub thing would be great, but theres at least 3 others on the Rainbow Children thread that could be rocking this (Unless they are thinking "Oh its that crazy gay dude who hates the Rainbow Children" - well actually I quite like Last December and She loves me for me, but I love Adore so much more).

Sorry Hamish in Chch about last year, I admit I hardly ever go in to fan gatherings much as I felt intimidated by the US domination of those forums, but I am here now.

As for gatherings, tentatively how about June 7 in Auckland as its P's birthday.

Keep those posts coming

No, i never used to come to this forum much either- never much happening that I could be part of.

June 7 sounds like a good idea. Plenty of time to plan ahead. wink

Sounds good but if all goes to plan I will be overseas then, either volunteering on a kibbutz or working on a cruise liner. Sick of the 9-5, call it an early mid life crisis.

^LOL...ahh -happens to the best of us....we just built a gamesroom on our house and I'm building 80's mame arcade machines to retro it up LOL

well here goes...

1. Marti , male 39

2. Since around '84...first album I ever bought was ATWIAD...my bro had PR and I got into Prince from there....

3. Down South - Dunedin!

4. uh huh....too old for that stuff

5. Anything from 1980-1988, The Gold Experience, Exodus, The Truth, The Rainbow Children, Lotusflow3r, 20Ten

6. graphic designer...

and shane, that radio show was great! Pity Prince would sue us if we did a show of his unreleased stuff, a lot of that stuff is fantastic

BTW how many kiwis here have seen prince live...I saw him in '92 (Sydney, Diamonds and Pearls Tour) and again for a soundcheck and show in Sydney 2003....got a family now so not sure if I could afford to go to Oz again, although I'd love to meet up with some of the cool Aussie fans that I know now via the web...back in the Housequake days...the venues in Oz are much better than we have in NZ

1. My name's Mya, and I'm 17 - turning eighteen this January.

2. I've been a fan of P for about 4 years now.

3. North Shore, Auckland

4. http://www.facebook.com/myaaaaa < - but I hardly ever used it.

5. TGE, One Nite Alone, For You, Prince.

6. I'm fully qualified when it comes to 'International Travel, Tourism & Airline Studies' but I highly doubt that'd be any use. lol

I've had various accounts on the org for years, and I've honestly never come across other Kiwi fans! It's such a relief knowing there are people other than myself who've heard of more songs by Prince than 'Purple Rain' and '1999'. disbelief
