"For EIGHT years now, Dave Paul (proprietor of hip-hop label Bomb Records) has hosted and DJ'ed at the brilliant "Prince vs. Michael Jackson" parties. As selections of hits, rarities, and remixes from both artists are presented over the course of the evening, audience members square off in funky battle, holding signs bearing the mug of their favored entertainer to judge which one is the true king of pop. This sure ain't the place for cynics, but Darling Nikkis and Dirty Dianas are all welcome to participate." - SF WEEKLY
ABOUT THE DJ’s
DJ Dave Paul began his music career in 1984, starting as a mobile dj and evolving into a prominent college radio dj, club dj, and remixer in San Francisco. One of his 45 minute reel-to-reel megamixes was featured on commercial radio station KMEL. During the late 80s and early 90s his weekly radio show "Beat Box Fridays" on college radio station KCSF was instrumental in breaking many hip-hop records in the Bay Area market. Utilizing various pseudonyms Paul has produced records, created the worlds first scratch tool for digital dj's (The Ultimate Scratch CD), and remixed the classic song Cavern by Liquid Liquid (Let's Hear It For the B-Boy Remix) for the UK label Mo Wax. In 1991 he launched the now legendary publication The Bomb Hip-Hop Magazine and in 1995 Paul transformed the magazine into a record label. The company was named "one of the fifteen independent labels that matter" according to Rolling Stone and the labels Return of the DJ series was ranked by Spin Magazine as #25 in their "The 90 Greatest Albums of the 90's" (Sept. 1999 issue), receiving a higher rating than Gold & Platinum albums by Lauryn Hill, Pearl Jam, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Metallica, Green Day and Fatboy Slim. Dave Paul has been featured in URB magazine, XLR8R, appeared on the front cover of Billboard, and is featured in the motion picture Scratch. Mr. Paul has dj'ed throughout the US, toured Europe and the UK, released over 90 projects on his record label and currently produces themed dj parties including the 8 year running Prince vs Michael Experience.
DJ T-Rock has been honing his craft for more than 20 years, mastering the turntable as an instrument. T-Rock is best known for his full length albums Who's Your Daddy (Bomb Hip-Hop) and Sikinthehed (Nu Gruv/Stereotype), as well as his appearances on Bomb's famous Return of the DJ compilations, Deeper Concentration and Scratch Attack. He has been featured in numerous international magazines including URB, DJ TIMES, XLR8R, Mass Appeal and Elemental. In addition to his work as a scratch DJ and producer T-Rock is an accomplished mixing dj that has enabled him to perform with such greats as Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5), Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys), DJ Swamp (Beck), Afrika Bambaataa, Z-Trip and many others. In 2003 T-Rock performed for 20,000+ sized crowds when he became the tour DJ for Latin artist Amanda Perez for a period of 3 years. In 2005 T-Rock was voted amongst the 5 best hip hop DJ's in the world in an internet poll run on 'thedjlist.com'. DJ T-Rock has toured in North America, Europe, Canada, and New Zealand. In addition to album releases his music has been featured independent films, television & cinema advertising campaigns for Microsoft's Zune MP3 player, MTV, a Vodka Smirnoff commercial and on Cartoon Network.
