Any Prince fans in Jacksonville, Florida going to see the tribute band on Nov. 11th. 1999, a Prince and the Revolution tribute band are playing at Freebird at Jax Beach on Nov. 11th. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only Prince fan in this city, so if anyone else out there lives in the area and is going to this, I'd love to hear from you. Here's the tribute band's in-progress web site: http://1999princetribute.com/
Oh, after their Prince tribute, the band performs a set of their original material under the name SWASO. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/swasomusic. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

I am in Pensacola, and I feel the same......like my sister and I are the only big Prince fans around. I might just have to see about making the show!! Do you know how much the cover is? I have already spent a great deal of money getting set up to fly out for the opening night of Welcome 2 America. Gotta see how much I have left!!!

I was born in Pensacola, but I moved to Jax at the age of 4 (military transfer), so I don't really have any memories of that city.
Tickets are $10, plus TicketMaster fees. I haven't bought mine yet, so I'm not sure how much the TM fees are. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

I am actully in Jacksonville, and always have had a hard time finding Prince Fans Locally. I will be there! Cant afford the 750.00 plane ticket to NYC for the concert in Dec, so I will settle for this until he releases more dates for his tour. If you had not posted this i NEVER would have known about the Freebird thing. Good venue. I dig it.

I don't reside in Florida (wish I did) but I saw this tribute band/concert in Dallas, TX. It was a lot of fun and they did a real good show. At the Dallas concert, they actually performed first as themselves, SWASO, with their own music and after a brief intermission came out as the tribute band 1999 playing all Prince music. Their Prince part was very similar to the 1985 Prince and the Revolution/Purple Rain Live VHS with a few songs from the 90's. I highly recommend the show.

I'm in the Riverside area myself, but it's definitely going to be worth the drive. I've seen a lot of great shows at Freebird, the last one being Ani DiFranco. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"
