Let's mix it up this time. I'd love for us all to take a trip somewhere. How about Alcatraz? That is the prison/island in the Bay, right?
And last time we went to a nice suburb for Saturday lunch. How about this time we go to a greasy joint in Berkeley or Oakland instead? I know the perfect fish and chip place where you get to throw your peanut shells on the floor as you wait for your meal. Space for sale...

So Id really love that if its reasonable for everyone.... Ive also never had chicken and waffles. I think Stax in San Francisco location would be easiest... Its both hard and time consuming to drag everyone across the bridge via public transportation, no? Even though it is a total tourist trap, Alcatraz is pretty cool. But you have to buy ferry tickets in advance to avoid a sell out, which frequently occurs on weekends, particularly in August when SF is full of Europeans on holiday.
My favorite East Bay breakfast spot is Mama's Royal Cafe. Their food is awesome. I also like to get Mexican breakfast at this spot in Oakland's Furitvale District, across the street from the world headquarters of the Hells Angles, but I can't remember the name of the joint right now. Another fun thing to do would be to take a cable car up California Street or Powell Street to the top of Nob Hill for a few happy hour drinks at the Tonga Room, the best tiki bar on the West Coast. Then walk across the street and take an elevator to the Top of the Mark for more drinks and the best views in the city (if there is no fog). There is always lots going on during the last weekend in August. There will be tons of events to choose from. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

My 2 cents...
If we have a lot of out of town peeps, perhaps keeping things local for food and drink might be best. I remember all of the crazy coordination it took to actually go somewhere out of the city...though I do think Alcatraz is doable as that is an actual thing. Maybe a poll to see what folks want to do might be a good place to start. As stated before...I can host an evening of food/drinks/meet and greet that is easy peasy and would allow folks to get there whenever. I was thinking Friday night??? Christian Zombie Vampires

I'm a vegetarian these days - so I need to be difficult and check menus before we pick a place. (Go ahead and roll your eyes, it's OK - just let me make sure I can get my grub on without having to order a side of fries and/or an iceburg dinner salad.) Other than that, I have been to the bay area a few times but never seen Berkely or Oakland, so I'm all for exploring there. |

Oh, and I've been to alcatraz, but if everyone is gonna be there, we'll all have fun so I don't care. Just sayin'. |

Ummm, hello---we all treked our arses up the peninsula to that restaurant. Oakland is a BART away (which is cheap). I say we do Oakland's Chicken N Waffles. It would be nice to get out of SF one day. We can walk around Jack London Square too. It's fun for a break from SF. Space for sale...

I have to check my calender because I just might be out of town that weekend.
A good place for a nice brunch is Farmer Browns in San Francisco. They have bottomless mimosas that are just plain yum. www.farmerbrownsf.com Just Call Me Afrochick

Saturday afternoon All the stuff on Jerseys list on facebook perhaps the pier and alcatraz??? Would allow us options and also plenty of places to talk and cath up! (Im least certain about that spot) Saturday evening Another fun thing to do would be to take a cable car up California Street or Powell Street to the top of Nob Hill for a few happy hour drinks at the Tonga Room, the best tiki bar on the West Coast. Mamas makes serves an excellent vege patty at breakfast, should we end up there. I'm not a veginarian, but I love it. And their fresh fruit cup is crazy yum. Also, if we end up in Jack London for chix n waffles, there is an amazing amazing vegan soul food place a few blocks away. For the record, I have no preferences for the weekend. It'll be good just catching up with you all. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on
