Yes, thank you Jo, it was a brilliant day! And I'd like to thank Unique and Jimi for their dedications to Ruth. Jimi did a beautiful rendition of 'Sometimes it Snows in April', very moving, she would have been really touched to be remembered in that way! But I'm afraid it was Purple Rain that really got to me in the Camel, and poor Jo had to deal with a sobbing wreck in her arms.. thanks Jo, you've got a heart of gold! And Unique thanks for that brilliant version of Paisley Park Have no idea how I got back to my hotel, my feet are STILL throbbing, but it was fabulous. Great to see everyone again... Thank you all

thanks to everyone for coming
thanks to jo for putting this on and spending a lot of time and effort into arranging everything. organising a party on a boat is a challenge in itself, and add to that an afterparty in another venue, means twice as much organising. add tho that a band playing in both venues, and it's a lot of work. and it all went pretty smoothly without anyone knowing about some of the little challenges throughout the day, it certainly didn't show to the guests jimi and the band purple reign were fantastic again. the accoustic set was the first they had done, and they only arranged this earlier in the week, but you would have thought they had been doing it for years. as for the afterparty, they just rocked the place. the sound quality was really great. tribute acts can be ropey or cheesy at times, and i would say the bigger the fan of the original artist, the more you would find to fault the cover band, but i was listening from the safe location where i wasn't surrounded by crazy screaming girls (and a few crazy screaming boys, ok a LOT of crazy screaming boys) and was trying to find fault in the vocals, as i was thinking, surely they can't be THAT good, i'm not even drunk! and you know jimi just pulled it off effortlessly, both on the vocals and the guitar, and i've seen a number of people in my time who think they look like prince and wear hair and beards and clothing in a way they think is princelike, but they just aren't convincing, but jimi also does it well. he's even similar height and build, and i've stood face to face beside prince a few times in my life, spent countless hours front row at shows and aftershows to know all his mannerisms, and jimi just does it so well. i think the difference between jimi and anyone else, is that jimi is a natural, i don't think he is trying so hard to be like prince, he is just doing his own take on prince, and it just works. and i hear prince approves too! on the boat, clinton played an inspired set, digging out some cool jazzy laid back numbers for the afternoon warm up on the boat, and then literally about 12 hours later he still had the girls up dancing in heels. my feet were aching wearing sneakers and i wasn't even dancing (much), and some of them heels were like skyscrapers. i was sitting down at one point and a girl was dancing near me, and i thought she was standing on a stool, but she was just so damn tall with stilt like heels it was such a great day and night, i'm really glad all the regulars made the effort to turn up, the numbers were outstanding, and considering the ticket price during the recession, jo did so well to get everyone on board. it was also really fantastic to see a few of the old skool hardcore fans come back to the parties who hadn't been along to some of the last few. it was good to catch up with people i hadn't seen since the o2 shows. it's also great that so many people travelled so far to attend, with a few girls over from france, including mary sharon, who i think has been to every london prince party i've ever been to in the last 10 years. there are quite a few others like that, who have literally been to every single london prince party. they must be obsessed or something! my memory for names is awful, which is why i don't normally mention any names, as if i mention some, the rest might get upset about it, and as i am the worlds expert at putting my foot in it, i would probably mention names of people who don't want to be mentioned, but a big thanks also goes out to Lodger and family and friends for everything over the weekend. there are usually a fair number of people behind the scenes who all had something essential to the mix to put the parties together, but don't get many or any mentions online as they are quietly in the background, so a big shout goes out to all those people too. i dare to think how many people were involved this time, you have jo, the dj's, the band, the captain and staff on the boat, the manager, staff, and of course "dancing" security guys at the club, and all the other people who helped jo promote the party, make and sell tickets, and the decorations, buffet, balloons, you name it again, thanks to everyone involved in putting this on, and thanks to everyone for coming. this is one of the few times we can say it's a shame that people missed a great party, knowing that so few people missed out, as everyone really got together and made the effort to turn out in style i have a few photos i took, which will be from perhaps a slightly different perspective to some of the other photos, and i'll put them online later. i just need to upload them first i don't know when or where the next party will be, but i'll see you all there!

before everyone gets on the boat boarding time the downstairs area. i think this gives an idea how busy it was the upstairs area. again, you can see how busy it was this is purple reign playing an accoustic set on the boat i don't know what was going on there... jimi love, he reminds me of someone... a glimpse of the band in civvy clothing and in uniform at the club jimi love in full flow the club was packed all around, inside and out

thanks 2 the organisers, it was a fantastic day! next time can it be a whole weekender?.. thanks 2 purple rain who were excellent, every performance gave me goosies they were good enough 2 honour a dedication to ruth, a gorgeous orger & prince freak who passed away last year. jimilove did an accoustic 'sometimes it snows' & did a really beautiful job of it, the handclapping & bongos 2wards the end was cool they're true funky professionals, i dunno how they carried on in the hotness of that pub, but everyone just got down & sweaty 2gether who else got icecreams on the way home? apart from their brilliance, another highlight 4 me was watching mentalist get his groove on 2 Dirty Mind, i swear he did all the right moves. thanks 4 the photos so far! i'll try & do some later x

I didnt have a hotel so we went to eat and then to the camel, so i felt a little underdressed when all you guys turned up in your killer heels and fab party dresses! Thanks Barbarella!!!!! A fantastic day, and Jimi and the band were brilliant as ever, thanks to clinton and unique for some great tracks MY NAME IS PRINCE!!!! Finally met my facebook peeps and org mates - FAB! Ill be there on the next one. A special Hi to Jen, LottieLoo and Mentalist. walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous
