For those of you that haven't heard of Days of Wild you are missing out on a totally funky experience of music that includes, Prince, James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament, the Time, Sheila E and many more.

The DOW funk family has so many members. You could show up to watch a gig and find yourself playing, singing or dancing on stage with them, because they believe in spreading the love. Ok, on any given night, you may see: Jonathan Fritz, Singh "The Knife" Birdsong, Jimi Hendryx, Eric Katerle, Jameison, Duran or Artie - guitar; Takk, Brett "The Kid" Bass, Steve B., Kid Redd, Artie or Tiny on the bass; Mathias "Du da Math", Swang or Brickhouse on the keys; Sandro on the trombone; Chucki Hancock, Kareem or Dr. Chris on the sax; Richard Lee, Michael Karr or Shariff Clayton on the trumpet.....Every night you will definitely see the masterminds that started the funky madness of known as Days of Wild, Ferocious Guyocious on the drums and Stephane on the mic.

Ok, Ok just wanna get a handle on who's gonna be at this Friday's show (May 8th). It's gonna be crazy off the hook because all the way from Paris, France, by way of Jamaica is gonna be the ever so wonderful Tanya Michelle sitting in with the band and man can this girl sang.

I had the BEST time EVER last nite! DAYS OF WILD w/ TANYA MICHELLE was off the planet & out the solar system! I don't think I sat down the entire evening! My feet hurt, I'm losing my voice, I've sweated out my perm (lol)...but none of that matters because I had the time of my life last nite! Do not sleep on them!!!

Great hanging with you joifantastic & L4OATheOriginal. Great seeing you chocolate1, purplecam & funkteer...

I'm going to try to make the Saturday show. I have my 20th reunion down at Rutgers during the day (RCRU '89), but the Alumni dinner starts at 6:30, so I'll be home waaay before 1am.

Long, not so nice story for one of my cousins, but things are getting better.

Miracle upon miracles I made it to last night's show. After taking care of some of the family business, some friends of mine took me out for drinks and then insisted we go to NYC to see the band. While the show wasn't as wild and crazy as the Friday before, thanks to Tanya Michelle sitting in then, it was still another great night with DOW!

I need to upload my pics from both shows and add them here, but I have errands to run right now and I have to go to work tonite, so maybe tomorrow or Monday.

Have fun whoever goes tonight...they've added a new song to the set...DREAMER!

Come and join Days of Wild at the “Rockin’ the Cradle” benefit concert for Baby Sofia.

The Rockin' the Cradle event & the Motorcycle Ride to Rockin' the Cradle are two of many events brought together by the Friends of Janine & the community of Fleetwood, NY to raise funds for the health care & welfare of baby Sofia Tousa. The Fleetwood Community is truly embracing the old adage “it takes a village” by coming together to raise funds to support the O Hara family in face of unspeakable tragedy.

On March 13, 2009, Baby Sofia was born to Janine O Hara, & her fiance George Tousa. Unfortunately, there were difficulties with the pregnancy, causing Sofia to suffer several medical complications, including facial nerve damage. She is unable to eat or swallowing properly. Though her condition has been improving slowly, Sofia is still under medical treatment & facing several long months of physical therapy.

Worse still, on March 22, Janine O Hara, a new mother for only ten days, was struck by an aneurysm & died. She was only 29 years old.

Sofia’s grandparents, Ray & Janet O Hara, Mt. Vernon residents for over 25 years, have courageously committed themselves to raising the new baby.

Rockin’ the Cradle is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, from 12 pm to 6 pm at Gramatan Avenue, in Fleetwood, NY. The event is composed of a day-long festival featuring a full lineup of live music, celebrity guests, children’s entertainment & games, a food court, & a long list of raffles. Local merchants will be supplying food & drink for the attendees, & merchandise will be available for purchase, including T-Shirts featuring the Rockin’ the Cradle logo & all major sponsors listed on the back. Best of all - admission is FREE !!

Blue Knights NY XII & BPO Elks #707 are partnering to host a motorcycle ride that will co-ordinate with the Rockin' the Cradle Festival on June 28. You can sign up at the Elks Lodge at 88 West Lincoln Ave in Mt Vernon at 9am. Kickstands up at 10am. Ride will tour lower Westchester with endpoint at Rockin' the Cradle, on Gramatan Ave in Fleetwood area of Mt Vernon. $20 per rider - $10 per passenger. First 100 to sign up will receive small commemorative gift. Coffee, bagels, donuts will be served courtesy of the Elks.

Yeah, the band that sat in with them kind of took over on Friday, so it wasn't much of a DOW show, but a major jam session. Which Maurice enjoyed totally, but my daughter Kalyn was kind of confused about. I'm posting my pics on Myspace later today.

I can't wait until June 14th @ BB King's
