It's scary the way people think he is Godlike and stuff. I just love the music and that's it. I have a life outside Prince. Would love a venue playing all his music though. I could get my groove on Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

So what is exactly happening like???
This is all so vague. I am well up for a Prince fan gathering and party but so far we have no idea of where or what is happening. Sorry to be so anal and inquisitive but my touch of OCD necessitates me needing to have more information. Especially since it is all so close. Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Aye. But where. I will be working on the sat till the evening and I would like to know where the pub is that I shall be going to. Just confused as to why the details are vague. That's all. Need to know do I have time to go home or do I take clothes with me to work. The place will depend what I wear. Different places different styles of dress etc.
As I said and I always have had it since a young child but I can't do things at the last minute. I need to know. OCD. That's me. Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

Cool. Wel working toll 10pm anyway so can't get there for 5.30. I wouldn't if I could as I would be drunk by 8 and just become a mess.
But I will come if 10+pm is ok with you? I guess you will be all on your own little buzz by then and it will be difficult to get involved. I'll see. Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

unique said: i spoke the the venue today and the bar manager was for it in principle, but has to check with the general manager first to ensure the date doesn't coincide with another event, as we aren't giving them enough notice as they would usually advertise the nite in the program and online etc
i said i'd be looking to do something starting about 6pm (bar is open till about midnite), and said we would compromise and mix the music up if it starts getting really busy later on (as i can play rnb, soul, funk etc and mix in prince and realted stuff they wouldn't know). she said the punters were normally cool and laid back and not bothered about the music choice, so it sounds fairly promising, and if it works out well then we might be able to do it again it's a really nice venue, it's a bar, and it's a chilled out type of vibe, so no dancing, but if we get the say so then we will be able to play prince music. i explained that we already have a couple of dozen people coming on the date, so it's just a case of finding a venue, so if they were interested in our custom then everyone is happy so i'll post back later tonite hopefully with more news. as i said before, if it isn't going to work out at that venue, i have another one on the back burner, so we will have a place to go on 27th september and meet around 5.30pm-6pm (and some may want to meet earlier during the day). i'm just trying to arrange somewhere where we can play prince music, and with 2 weeks to go and wanting a venue on the last saturday of the month in one of the countries biggest and busiest towns, it's not and easy feat, so bear with me and it'll be alright on the nite well done Ian....Cant wait

unique said: ok, i just spoke to the general manager, and he was interested in it, he just needs to check with his boss first, which means he will get back to me on monday
basically we have to respect the bar and patrons, and there are volume level contraints, and normally they do a 3 hour stint of music from one artist or theme, which is usually 9pm-12pm, but being a saturday, which is normally a busy nite, they don't normally do these things, but if we did say 7pm-10pm of prince then that may work out okay. he did mention he did a 5 hour set of a specific artist and at the end of the night the bar staff were complaining because they were sick of hearing the same stuff, so if i keep things interesting we can maybe extend things further. certainly the bar will remain open, so we can stay till midnite fortunately the bar manager was up for it, and the general manager too, and he was a bit of a prince fan, telling me he was at parkhead, meadowbank and the secc, so hopefully that should work in our favour. he said the date we picked is a low key evening for them, which works in our favour, as if it was a busy weekend we couldn't do it so, sorry to delay, but it's promising at least, and certainly not bad news. if we pull this off we will not only have prince music and we can all hang out, but the place will be pretty full of regulars being initiated to the music of prince and like i say, if it really doesn't work out, then i still have a fallback venue, and i'll keep looking into alternatives, but i am pretty hopeful about this

There is no way I can be there for 6 as i work 'till 10pm. Is that too late consisering by the time I clock off and get to Tollcross it will be edging towards 10.30 or later?
Even if I could though if I started drinking at 6 pm I would be comatose by 9pm and make a show of myself and have to go home. So it is best if I do arrive later. Realistically. Will people be there so early? Place looks nice. I always passed the Cameo and thought ' what a shit hole'. Obviously one should not judge a book by it's cover. Lesson learnt Studal. Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

EDINBURGH PRINCE FAN MEETUP
Saturday 27th September 2008 THE CAMEO CINEMA BAR 38 Home Street, Tollcross, Edinburgh Starts 6pm sharp - free entry Dresscode - where what you like/casual _____ I'm very happy to finally confirm the venue for the 31 - 21 Nites in Edinburgh fan meetup on Saturday 27th September 2008 at the Cameo Picturehouse Cinema Bar, at 38 Home Street, Tollcross Edinburgh. It's taken a bit of work to obtain a suitable venue at such short notice, especially on a busy month end Saturday nite in Edinburgh, so to arrange with such a great venue is pretty fantastic. The venue has regular theme nites in the bar, where they have "a night of..." either a particular band or artist, or sometimes a style of music. They don't normally hold these nights on Fridays and Saturdays as normally those are busy days and they don't need events to bring in business, but they have very kindly agreed that we can hold a Prince theme nite in the bar on the given date. Normally the theme nites take place for a 3 hour period from 9pm-midnite, but as this is a Saturday the management have agreed that we can play Prince music from 6pm to 8.30pm, and from there on they will judge the reception from guests and staff, and if appropriate we may be allowed to continue the theme further. So if the music is good, and people like it, and the bar staff aren't sick of listening to Prince, we may get an extension. Whatever happens, there will be music and a bar until midnite, and there are also video screens in the bar, and I'll have specially compiled material for the nite. The Cameo Cinema is one of the oldest cinemas in Edinburgh, and is respected as being the main cinema for arthouse and indie movies, with a large customer base of students and film fans. It's had celebrities such as Sean Connery, Quentin Tarrantino and Irvine Welsh attend premiers. I've personally seen some of my favorite movies for the first time there, such as Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas, Boogie Nights, and Girl 6, to give you an idea of the type of venue. It's an old Elizabethan building but has a modern style bar. The vibe of the bar is a chilled out laid back place for people to hang out and have a drink before and after shows, and we've been asked to respect that and the regular customers. As such, this will be a Prince fan meetup, with Prince music, videos and chat, there will be alcohol on sale, but there won't be any dancing at the venue. The bar is open during the day, so people can turn up early and get in, get a seat and have a drink, I'll be there early, and the Prince music will kick off at 6pm sharp. As the bar closes at midnite, and it's in the centre of town, it's possible for people to continue the night on the town in late nite bars or clubs in Edinburgh city centre, and it's also convenient for people to get the last train or bus home as the venue isn't far from Waverley Train Station, Haymarket Train Station or St Andrews Square Bus Station. You can get buses or trains back to Glasgow from Haymarket which is about 15 mins slow walk or 2 minutes in a taxi. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. The venue, date and time are confirmed, and it won't be cancelled or rescheduled, the show will go on. Prince is not guaranteed to attend, and this is not an official NPG related event. Please help spread the word about this event by whatever means you have, such as myspace, bebo, facebook, etc, and alerting other fans or people who may be interested in attending. Attaching a link to this thread in your org sig, as I've done, is also handy as it alerts people who may not check the fan gathering forum regularly. I'll see you all there - 27th September, the Cameo Cinema Bar, Edinburgh.
