Purple Reign in Detroit, Sept. 28-29 What is the difference between Purple Reign and Purple Rain? Well
motor babies? The answer is simple -- one is a tribute group from Las Vegas and the other is the uuber-fantastic movie starring The Kid and The Revolution. Now show of hands, how many have seen Purple Reign in person? How about Purple Rain, the movie, on the big screen? Okay, uh huh. Well, come Sept. 28 and 29 you will have the opportunity to do so in Motown. Purple Reign, featuring Jaysun Tenner and his funky cohorts, will be gracing the Michigan State Fairgrounds stage for two nights of classic ol' skool MPLS funk. On Saturday, Sept. 29, the classic movie Purple Rain will be shown on an outdoor screen in addition to the Purple Reign tribute show. Tickets went on sale to the GENERAL PUBLIC on August 11 at all Ticketmaster outlets and the State Fairgrounds, or you can call (877) 388-6428. But being a Prince fan and a Detroit Crawl motor baby has its privileges. Now, tickets have gone on-sale already ($29 per), and if you purchased them ahead of time, I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you that Detroit Crawl club members get a club discount, according to the promoter. Club price is $19.99. Now, I emailed the promoter to find out more on how we can go on obtaining the tickets, and I hope to hear from him soon. So, sit tight and hopefully I will have more crucial information Monday afternoon / evening. Mark your calendars, motor babies. It will be another beautiful night with The Crawl. a2grafix // thedetroitcrawl.org Detroit's Premiere Prince Fan Group [Edited 8/20/07 0:49am]

Hi motor babies ... I know we are a little more than a month away (Sept. 28 and 29) from the special visit from the Prince Las Vegas tribute group, "Purple Reign," and tickets for the general public have gone on sale. I have motor baby club pricing information. I talked to the promoter, Darryl in Metro Detroit, and he is saying that he is working on getting the $19.99 fan club discount for us. SO DO NOT BUY YOUR TICKETS just yet. He is working on a few options -- either Ticketmaster to set aside a special section on its website for club tix, a website -- purplereigntour.com -- for us to order tickets, or setting aside a certain number of tickets at the state fairgrounds will call window for The Detroit Crawl. I need your help. Would you order the tickets through ticketmaster and a special passcode? Or would you be willing to say a special pass code (detroit crawl, motor babies, etc.) at the will call window and pay the $19.99 discounted price? Countin' the days. It's going to be a beautiful weekend with The Crawl --

Hi motor babies ...
A discount of $19.99 is set up for Detroit Crawl motor baby club members for the Purple Reign tribute shows Sept. 28 - 29, at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. Call 1.877.388.6428 or check out ThePurpleReignTour.com for more information concerning the appearance of Jaysun Tenner and his funky cohorts from Las Vegas. And don't forget, the Saturday, Sept. 29 show not only has a concert, but a special outdoor screening of the move "Purple Rain." It's going to be a beautiful night with The Crawl. Consider me there.. I saw that the website says PURPLEREIGNTOUR.COM.. Any word if they are going anywhere else in the midwest? Im from South Bend Indiana and if Im not mistaken, Jason is from Indianapolis originally. I would LOVE for P.Reign to come to town....That just made my day. They are one of the main reasons I love to go to Vegas...

sweeet!! Not sure if they are touring anywhere else in the Midwest, but best to check their main website. Hmmm, for some strange reason purplereign.net says the tribute band is still performing in Vegas as South Point and House of Blues. Pretty sure the Detroit dates trump them.

It is true they have opened at the South Point on Fridays, the Monte Carlo on wednesdays and the House Of Blues in the MGM on Sundays, but their website is announcing their appearance in Detroit now. They are always working here in Vegas because of their popularity and reputation they have built for themselves in this area.(www.PurpleReign.net) [Edited 9/13/07 14:00pm]

Seems the place to be before Saturday's tribute gig and movie is La Dolce Vita on Woodward Avenue, just down the street from the State Fairgrounds, for a bite to eat before the event.

THE EVENT IS CANCELLED.
This is courtesy of Traci / aka MarcusMom over at TheDetroitCrawl.Org -- Purple Reign show at State Fair Canceled FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO GOT TICKETS AND WERE HEADING TO DETROIT AND TO THE STATE FAIR GROUNDS: Got a message on MySpace from Jaysun that do to circumstances beyond their control, that the show was canceled. No details as of yet, but I am going to try and contact the promoter and see if refunds are available. Not sure what the process is if you purchased tickets through TicketMaster. Guess I'll just have to be content with going to Chicago this weekend! :>) :>( -Traci [Edited 9/26/07 22:56pm]

Seems that a change of venue is in store. Although this is Detroit, it's fall in Detroit and the weather is fickle.
TheDetroitCrawl.Org is told news of this change will come before the weekend is out.

Hi motor babies ...
According to a new email, Jaysun Tenner and Purple Reign and the Detroit promoter have "mutually agreed to reschedule the show for December in a more plush location - downtown Detroit; either the Music Hall, Opera House, or Cobo Riverview Ballroom." Those who have purchased tickets for the Sept. 28 and 29 gigs, "you can go back to where you purchased your ticket(s) for a refund. When the new location has been decided we will offer you front row seats for purchase." Lastly, there will be information soon a new seperate cover for the new December tribute gigs. Hope to learn more soon. Have a great weekend-- Timmy / a2grafix TheDetroitCrawl.Org
