*TONIGHT WE‘RE GONNA PARTY LIKE IT‘S...*
The next Stay Beautiful is on SATURDAY 4th AUGUST, and in honour of the foremost musical genius of the last 100 years arriving in London for a residency at the 02, we're throwing a specially themed PURPLE PRINCE PARTY!. What do we mean by that? First of all, we want you all to WEAR SOMETHING PURPLE if you can. Secondly, we'll be showing PURPLE RAIN (and other Prince films, eg Under The Cherry Moon) on the big screen. And thirdly, of course, we'll be spinning a whole load of the little feller's GREATEST HITS scattered among the usual Stay Beautiful playlist. (Note: DON'T BE PUT OFF if you're not a massive Prince fan, because we aren't gonna overdo it. We're talking 3 or 4 Prince songs per hour, among the usual glam-punk-electro sounds.) Classics you might be hearing include: "Alphabet St", "Black Sweat", "Cream", "Controversy", "Gett Off", "Girls And Boys", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "I Would Die 4 U", "Kiss", "1999", "Little Red Corvette", "Peach", "Raspberry Beret", "U Got The Look", "When Doves Cry", "When You Were Mine"... and his new single "Guitar".

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT ONE OF PRINCE'S SECRET GIGS. WE AREN'T DOUBLE-BLUFFING. IT JUST ISN'T. OK?



*PARTY PEOPLE SAY, LET'S GET THIS PARTY UNDERWAY...*
It would be crazy, of course, to claim that PAUL ST PAUL AND THE APOSTLES (http://www.myspace.com/pa...heapostles) are Prince copyists. After all, the transvestite sexfunk troupe hail from the Planet Isreal (sic), so any similarity must be purely coincidental. On the other hand, maybe some radio transmissions from early 80s Minneapolis have subliminally reached them, because there is a definite flavour of purpleness to their sound (along with lace-gloved Madonna and diamante-socked Jacko). That's one reason why we've invited them to beam down for a record-breaking third appearance at Stay Beautiful. The other, more important reason is that they're the most fun you can have with your clothes on (or, to be accurate, a selection of scanty lingerie). If you've seen them before, you'll already be planning your outfit and plotting to reserve your place down the front. If you haven't - where the hell have you been? - don't miss this chance. You'll only hate yourself when everyone else is talking about it afterwards. Seriously, PSP&TA are amazing.

To set you on your way towards alcoholic oblivion, the Purple Turtle serves a special JESUS JUICE cocktail exclusively at Stay Beautiful - a delicious and potentially head-fvcking blend of vodka, Archers, cranberry, lemonade and fresh lime - at £8.50 per pitcher ALL NIGHT (a wide variety of other cocktails will be served at a tenner per pitcher). Furthermore, as aficionados of messy vodka-guzzling will be aware, Stay Beautiful has a somewhat notorious tradition called the WATERING CAN SONG…

...and with a dress theme like this month's, there was only one (non-Prince) song we could choose: "START WEARING PURPLE" by GOGOL BORDELLO. So, when you hear Eugene Hutz & co doing their gypsy-punk thing, you know it's time to get wet!

Stay Beautiful opens at 9.00pm and closes at 3.00am. Please note that The Purple Turtle is an over-18s venue and ID MAY BE REQUIRED, so if you think you may look underage, please bring one of the following: an NUS card (with a credit card), a passport, or a driving license.

Errr, you do know Prince is playing the o2 that night right? And tickets have been sold for an aftershow too?

Which is a bit of a shame really because otherwise you would probably have been inundated with serious prince fans!

Still, this could be a good place to head for any peeps who don't have aftershow tickets!

Yes, I did know that, but the club always happens on the first Saturday of the month, and there's nothing I can do about that.

I thought we might get a few fans who are in London for a few days, or (as you say) people who failed to get Club 3121 tix.

More to the point, everyone's excited about Prince right now, so it's a good time to do it. Many of our regulars will already have Prince tickets for one of the shows, and this party will give them a buzz.
