Hey motor babies ...

It was six years ago to this day that TheDetroitCrawl.Org went live on the Internet. And although we have had our share of ups and downs The Crawl is still alive and well.

Actually the group and the Web site started way earlier, actually for after I moved from Cleveland to Ann Arbor for a cool paying job, and I met some old friends from Washington DC, who were in Toledo, Ohio, for one of those famed Princefest events from back in the day. From there I met Peggy, aka Mama Peggy, and that after a few meetings after Princefest we came up with the name The Detroit Crawl. Actually she came up with it. A few months pass into early 2001 and right when Prince announced a new Web site called the NPG Music Club I filed for a domain name and server space. Through Peggy I met Melinda and TorJuan, and the four of us started to brainstorm. We lainched the Web site on March 17, 2001, and the group soon after.

TheDetroitCrawl.Org has gone through some minor facelifts, but has remained the same since it was launched some six years ago. And the rest, they say, is history. We have been blessed for the support and love and assistance through the years. There are so many people to thank, and you know who you are, but just a few I need to mention -- Peggy, Mindy, TorJuan, Luna, Ricco, "The Teej," Traci, Rose, Connie, Tia, April, Balynce, Rare Form, Julian's Ride, J7 and the 777 Update (aka J7 of TheBumpSquad.com), Willyum, Chenoa, Andrea, Antone', Adonis, Tony Starr, Rich, Ben "B-Side" and Val of Prince.Org, Aaron and everyone at Housequake.com, Samnation, Buzz Bar, Marilyn's on Monroe, Carbon Lounge, Intermezzo, Envy, The Good Life, Bamboozles, body-Ahs and The Dirty Little Prince group, Wendy and LisaFudgeBrownie, Shelly and Linda, Jamie, all the group moderators of the NewPowerNetwork, including LoveSexy DC, N E W P O W E R N E W Y O R K, ChitownGeneration, SARmusic.com, Vato, Prince and Paisley Park, and, of course, you.

And with the 20th anniversary of Sign O The Times just days away, The Crawl is working on getting back to its roots in hosting a good ol' fashioned Housequake. It will be our sixth anniversary party. Once details are set, u will know.

What a fun bunch you guys are!!

I rolled up from Chicago twice to attend some of those legendary parties (one at Marilyn's really sticks in my mind) and my lil' ol' car broke down both times! Still, I had a blast and the hospitality extended to me during my down time will never be forgotten!
