[Edited 12/30/06 13:31pm] Any news from the western front? we scored the tics for tonight thanks to madartista... getting there has proved more difficult..... 8 hours and counting.. didn't really feel like playing football on the 15th so took a little diversion and dinner at Bagdad.. off route 66 ..onto the 40..over the 95.. still beats the delays of 9 hours on route 15... Well, I am sure Aksel and the others will be back in a few days to fill this all in... I have a ball to prep. They are all off to the Grand Canyon. I will say it was one of the most interesting weekends in a long time and things just fell together time after time. We were fortunate to be able to be in the room of 40 (As its called) twice and THAT was amazing. ( The night of the 30th 57 people made it into the Jazz room and the night of the 31st Prince had a section The Rio held a section and less then 30 went in.) I would have paid the full 312.00 to be in that room. I just love the flow of after shows. For me that is where it is at. Music by real musicians who are permitted to flow. You were easily able to talk to the musicians and the feel is a lot less structured and more like a giant jam session that you are being allowed in on. ( Hopefully no one will destroy this process by acting to much a fool... they already allow you to act a clown as is) Prince encouraged everyone to get involved in the process and to sing get on your feet and dance etc.... For me, this all reminds of an era gone by where you could get into a jazz club for the night and just watch the artist create art. I feel as though I traveled through time and spent a night with music

Lawd I'm tired. Like Muse said those of us that were able to make into the aftershow were treated to the tightest and funkest show of the night. Nevermind the concert the aftershow is where the PARTY really went down. It was so wonderful to meet everyone. I just got home so when I wake up from my nap I'll post somemore. Just Call Me Afrochick
I love you mom | |

Is Abierman a good dancer? P's bodygaurd summoned me to sit down because I was dancing so good, P was intimidated by it..... Well, like Muse already said, this was a once (twice) in a lifetime experience! They were really just jamming, taking grooves by Miles Davis & Herbie Hancock and just improvising on these..... I will never forget how Prince joined the band (which was already playing a while), got his guitar and leaned against Renato's piano and played some tunes.... This was just the beginning! We were sitting at the best table, Prince (when was not playing) sitting at the table adjacent from us. At the end of the show he stood up and leaned against the wall, cool like he is..... I reached out my hand without getting to close to him, and said: 'Thank you, Prince!' He didn't expect this to happen, his bodyguard wasn't around.....he looked me in the eyes and took my hand and shook it real quickly! I was at the 'Small-Club' gig in The Hague, nearly 20 years ago.....until last weekend that was my fondest Prince-experience, but what happened in Vegas blew it away!!! On NYE, at one point I walked out to go to the restrooms, after that I wanted a quick cigarette.....arriving at the ashtray in front at the restaurant's entrance, I saw Renato Neto there smoking one too..... I walked up to his, he asked me my name. Really cool and relaxed guy, without any pretentions. Asked aske some standard questions about working with P, he said that it's a blessing at all time. He couldn't answer my questions about a world-tour.....In the end we talked about Candy (who dutch like I am) of whom he told me that he loved working with her, and also her dad. I feel very lucky and fortunate to have been there! And I also want to mention that I was in an excellent crowd of friends, we had a blast together, so much fun, so many laughs.....pictures to come!!
