Prince vs Michael party in S.F. - new date : Sat. July 22nd Saturday, July 22nd
the PRINCE vs. MICHAEL party returns to Madrone Lounge Madrone Lounge 500 Divisadero St. @ Fell San Francisco, CA 94117 party starts at 9pm / $5 cover / 21+ with ID Music and visuals by bomb dj's Dave Paul and Jeff Harris. Special guest - guitarist Dave Fleminger from Groovus jamming & ripping solos over Prince and Michael instrumentals. Music videos, concert and rare footage on the video screen all night long! Prince and associated artists go toe-to-toe on the dance floor against Michael and the Jackson family during this ultimate dance party! This face-off always promises to be a dance marathon - "Kiss" takes a swing at "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)," only to be pounded by "Wanna Be Starting Somethin," which had better watch it's back when "Black Sweat" comes around. This event was conceived four years by Bomb Hip-Hop who have successfully produced 16 of these parties in San Francisco as well as Seattle, Portland and Bend. Deejays Dave Paul and Jeff Harris mix album cuts, remixes, rare tracks and classics from their extensive record collections to battle it out on the turntables. Featuring music from Prince, Michael, The Time, The Jackson 5, Sheila E., Janet Jackson, Vanity 6 and many more. Who will win, The Purple One or the King of Pop? Who cares... this is the perfect night out to lounge with your friends, make some new friends, get your drink on and dance your @ss off. view photos from the last event at http://www.bombhiphop.com/PvsM.html DJ DAVE PAUL Dave Paul began his music career in 1985, starting as a mobile dj and evolving into a prominent college radio and club dj in San Francisco. In 1991 he launched the now legendary company Bomb Hip-Hop. With an emphasis on the four elements of hip-hop, Dave Paul created the archetypal independent company, encompassing everything from management to an online store, concert promotion to magazine, merchandise to a record label. He has been featured in URB magazine, CMJ, XLR8R, appeared on the front cover of Billboard, and is featured in the motion picture SCRATCH. With the b-boy’s revenge and the DJ’s return, the one man army of Dave Paul is a true hero of the global independent scene, having unleashed upon the world the pioneering Return of the DJ series as well as a slew of international artists and producers. Mr. Paul has dj'ed throughout the US, toured Europe and the UK, and currently produces a Prince vs Michael party series. Specializing in music from the 70's-90's era, his record selection ranges from rock, new wave and alternative to hip-hop, dance and soul. Be it a nightclub, corporate event, wedding or private party deejay Dave Paul always comes prepared and delivers a top notch performance. DJ JEFF HARRIS Beginning his professional music career in 1985, Jeff Harris established himself as one of the top DJ's in Northern California. First with the prominent mobile music company Good Vibrations, remaining with the organization until 1990. Jeff is a veteran of over one thousand performances as a mobile and club DJ. Specializing in weddings, Mr. Harris is also highly skilled in performing at corporate events, anniversaries, birthday parties, nightclubs, and other special events requiring professional music entertainment. While attending college Jeff became the Music Director of influential college station KCSF, helping to establish the CHR-urban/Hip Hop radio format that would be adapted by P-1 radio giant KMEL to which Jeff Harris served as a consultant to the programmers during the early 90's. From radio, Jeff crossed over into the record business in 1991 working for major label Polygram Group Distribution, followed by marketing & promotion stints for Allegro Corporation and Innovative Distribution Network. Through it all, Jeff's deep passion for music has never wavered, as he has continued his career as a deejay and is a well known and respected music historian within the Bay Area music community. Yeah, that is a bit expensive. All I know is on the 22nd you'll be getting a lot for only a $5 admission. Voting ballots, P and M masks, concert footage on the video screen, a live guitarist playing over special extended P & M songs that we edited and a few other surprises On Saturday, July 22nd the ultimate party returns to the Madrone Lounge in San Francisco. Bomb Hip-Hop presents PRINCE vs. MICHAEL - round 17! Prince and associated artists once again go toe-to-toe on the dance floor against Michael and the Jackson family! A rubber stamp on your wrist is probably about the only extra you'd get from the DJ Spinna party!!

a live guitarist sounds nice, but...
we've got the legendary DJ SPINNA coming from new york, hence the $15 cover... well worth it, in my humble opinion. since the first SOUL SLAM event in 2002 in new york city, DJ SPINNA has been rockin' the MJ VS. PRINCE party from here to japan. if you're a real Prince and Michael Jackson fan, you should attend both... double your pleasure. peace, massive selector

Photos from the 7/22/06 Prince vs Michael party at
http://www.bombhiphop.com/july22.html We would like to thank everyone that came out to round 17 of our PRINCE vs MICHAEL event. Those of you who showed up early had the right idea. By midnight Madrone Lounge was at capacity and there was a line outside to get into the party. It was so packed that a lot of people didn't even get to make it up to the dj booth to cast their voting ballot. The vote count is as follows : Prince with 33 votes and Michael with 18 votes. When it came to music and crowd response though, we feel it was a tie for round 17. So many songs, so little time. We tried to squeeze in as much as we could but as usual we couldn't get to everything that we wanted to play. That is what is so great about these parties - each one is different and the song selection always varies. Songs that were the most well received - DMSR, Kiss (music video), Love Bizarre, Freeworld, Rasberry Beret, Let's Go Crazy, ABC, I Want You Back, Bad, Don't Stop til You Get Enough, Man in the Mirror and Thriller. Once again the staff at the Madrone Lounge were very professional and kind. Thank you all and we hope to see you soon. If you would like to know when our next P vs M party is in SF send an email to usa@bombhiphop.com - put "P vs M" in the subject heading and we'll alert you by email about our next event.
