Seattle Org Invasion July 28th-30th (part 2) Since the previous thread seems to be closed to new posts ( [Here is the 1st thread http://www.prince.org/msg...=181030193 [- luv4u] ), I present to you part 2 of:
The Seattle Org Invasion 2006 (July 28th - 30th) Locals in attendance: tackam (that would be me) HollowellSA Matt jackmitz Samaar notoriousj Local maybes: july luvy Invaders so far. . . Azz will be there : Miguelgomez Supa Romera CarrieMPLS Maybe: mdiver BlackBuddy HiinEnkelte Ideas about how this could go: Thursday -dinner with early arrivals (I may ask the owner of theTeapot to hook up some sort of buffet for us), and chillout at my place, as long as the group is small enough to fit Friday -Jimi Hendrix field trip -dinner/clubs (I'm thinking that the Broadway Grill could handle us, and they are within walking distance of the Capitol Hill club district. . .Purr and the Chapel would top my list. This would allow a Friday evening stroll down Broadway. Always entertaining.) Saturday -get some of the best coffee in the world at Vivace -late morning/early afternoon - Pike Place Market. Fun, food, shopping, essential Seattle landmark. -late afternoon/evening - main meetup - bonfire (& BBQ?) at Golden Gardens Park (weather permitting. . . should be fine this time of year, but I'll plan an alternative) -late evening - Pioneer Square (Last Supper Club, Fenix. . . there is a multi-club stamp that would encourage much club-hopping fun) * -alternatively- * We could do a Princely Late-Nite Double Feature. I'm looking into projection equipment. . . Sunday -get some of the best coffee in the world at Victrola (I could possibly arrange a coffee cupping -- it's like a wine tasting -- if there are enough interested parties. . . the guy who does their roasting loves to educate the masses, and he's fun) -brunch (The Globe, or 5 Spot) -Seattle Center (Space Needle, Experience Music Project, etc) -dinner (Center/Queen Anne. . . lots of options) with stragglers -still wanna party? Rebar, totally. Monday you're still here? ok, I'll feed you. First, have some Gatorade and Ibuprofen. . . Orgnote me with thoughts, and post to confirm travel plans. I can't wait to see you guys! (repost from previous thread)
Ok, hotel info. Now, keep in mind, I haven't actually BEEN to most of these places! They are all in locations that would be convenient for the invasion, though. Probably the best option, in terms of location, would be the Silver Cloud. It's not dirt-cheap, but it's reasonable, and it's got great access to the bus lines we'll be using, as well as being at the end of the main drag that runs through the neighborhood. There are a couple of hotels that are either directly or indirectly associated with local hospitals (there are several nearby). While it may seem a bit odd, they apparently have really reasonable rates and good reviews, and the locations are very good. The Baroness (<- were I travelling, this would probably be my less-expensive first choice) Inn at Virginia Mason And there are several nearby bed and breakfasts, including: Amaranth Inn 11th Avenue Inn Capitol Hill Inn There are also, of course, great hotels downtown. A couple of really cool (and expensive) ones: Hotel Max W Seattle (<-- the only hotel in Seattle that I've personally stayed at. It's wonderful.) And probably Seattle's most famous/historic hotel: The Edgewater I could dig up lots more downtown options for anybody who is interested, and actually, Matt is a bargain-travel guru; I'd highly suggest orgnoting him if you want help finding the best deals. A NEW THREAD! I think I'm gonna purchase my airfare this weekend. For out-of-towners: anyone given any thought to hotels yet? It'd be a lot of fun if we were all centralized

So, ok. I was just discussing with Richard and Ivy the reality that I might be moving soon, in which case I'll probably get a hotel room for the invasion myself.
I realize that this might not sound like fun for everybody, but I think it would be fab to get a couple of biiiig rooms and kinda crash together, a la Darin's living room floor. Thinking about this, and about hotels booking up for this time of year, I just reserved three rooms at the Silver Cloud. Each room has two queen beds, so can sleep 4. So, this would hold everybody who is currently confirmed (including Andy, Denny, and myself) with room for 3 more. I reserved them for Thursday through Sunday nights, at a total cost of $2480 (which actually involved them cutting me a little bit of a deal). That would break down to about $200 per person, total, for 4 nights. If you're math-impaired, that's $50 per person, per night. I realize that most people probably aren't staying for 4 nights, and that nobody might like this idea anyway, so no worries, I can cancel right up until 24 hours beforehand. But the hotel is, in fact, filling up, so I figured I'd hedge our bets. Let me know what you think, kittens. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I can only get thursday and friday off work, so I'ma need to be back to work at 6am on Monday morning. But so far, sounds ok... |

That is cool for me but I will not be there for all four nights. I don't mind putting in $200.00 bucks to make that happen, though.

I love that idea!
I'll pass it on to my boy and the house photographer and see what they say!

Sure. Hell, I don't know that ANYbody is gonna be here Thursday night. I reserved it just in case. What I might end up doing is dropping one or two of the rooms for the first and last nights. If people want to do this, we'll just have to see what the numbers are looking like closer to the date. But good to know that you're in. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

It did make me a little nervous to give somebody my credit card number for a theoretical charge of $2480, but it was just momentary panic. I've never been to Seattle, but I arrange travel there for a finicky group of travelers at work. After blasting through many Seattle hotels, Silver Cloud is now THE Seattle hotel of choice. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
