Sorry for the delays in finalising this, but London is an expensive town and nice places for cheep are hard to come by. It should all work out well and I for one am getting very excited now!!!!



Friday Night – Arrivals, Rendezvous, Drinks and Dance



For those that are already in town we will meet at the classic rendezvous spot the Statue of Eros in Piccadilly Circus at 6:30pm



Just a short walk down the Haymarket to TigerTiger an over 21’s Bar and Club where we have a seating area reserved and our names (when you provide them to me by Org note) on a guest list. There is a dress code of smart side of smart casual, no trainers/sneekers, scruffy/ripped jeans or sportswear and bouncers are arseholes so don’t assume they will make exceptions.



The atmos is said to be mixed, mostly contemporary music but split over several areas and dance floors so we CAN keep Kylie “out of our head” if music takes a turn for the overtly commercial. The reserved area is situated in Lounge so chatting, gossiping and flirting should all be possible. Food platters can be ordered so don’t worry about eating before you arrive unless you have a big appetite. Happy hour ends at 7, so the advancing party should be able to get a few bottles in before prices go up although they don’t seem to bad at non happy hour prices – Relative to London of course!

For those that arrive a little later come straight to the club where can be quickly let in via the guest list (queues start to from round about 9pm) the party is booked under Butler. After 10 pm the club charges entry of £3, but I will try to negotiate some kind of exemption for those on the guest list if any of you think you will arrive after then.

We will probably get booted out around 3am onto the streets of London to avoid the pools of vomit and piss; if any of us make it that far and aren’t restricted by transport (tube stops around 12:30).

Saturday Daytime – Walking tour of London


The only way to do it! Arm yourselves with a Zone 1-2 travel card and make your way to Covent Garden where we can meet starting at around 10.

From here we can walk to Leicester Square..

..and picadilly circus....

....then down to Trafalgar Square.

Pick up the trail through Admiralty Arch and down The Mall to Buckingham Palace and Victoria Monument.

Leaving Buck House behind we can walk through St James Park….

…to Parliament Square, Houses of Parliament, Wesminster Abbey and……

……. Big Ben (Westminster Clock Tower)

A short walk down to see Tony Blair, give him a awave and plod along the Thames from here to Embankment where we can either get a river taxi (a few Quid) or the tube (free with your travel cards) to Tower Gateway.

If we go by river then we can catch views of the London Eye, St Pauls Cathedral, The Globe and Tower bridge (amongst many other sights)….



Before arriving at the The Tower of London

We can grab some lunch and a pint at this point and then enter the Tower. After a few hours mooching around inside at the jewels and weaponry for those who wish (and if we have time) we can hop on the tube to Kensington House for a spot of afternoon tea, that most famous British Pastime at the Orangey, Kensington Palace

After which we can all head back to our hostels for a wash and spruce up before hitting the town again.

Saturday Evening – Dancing


Time yet to be determined but we can meet up somewhere in the Farringdon/Barbican area (very convenient for those of you staying at the Citadines Apartments) for a spot of food and drink then onto a small club for a night “So Funky” it will be hard to stay sitting down. At least that is what I am assured by the man in charge at the Charterhouse Bar. Free entry and dancing till 3.

Sunday is Open - TBC
Perhaps a trip to Greenwich or Camden for the markets and a night at the Globe or Notting Hill have been suggested.

ITINERARY

Apart from the party on Saturday night, this is not exhaustive or final - input was asked for in many posts and not given, so if you dont like whats planned - say so!! Its up to you to enjoy yourselves, democracy etc...

FRIDAY
Remains kinda up in the air at the moment, until I get confirmation some invaders will be here! If there will be we will do some sightseeing in the daytime, go back to our lodgings, meet up for dinner and go on a bit of a pub crawl, around some quintessential Edinburgh type places. And possibly a Ghost tour too, lots of fun! This post will be updated a plenty!

SATURDAY DAYTIME

Saturday’s activities will begin whenever you arrive – so let someone know – or about 10/11am for those of you already here. We will go on a walking tour of Edinburgh - sightseeing, basically! As it's a pretty small city all squashed into one place this is the best way to do it, and we’ll fit plenty in!
We can walk around the Old Town, which is rich with history and all things Scottish (Greyfriars Bobby, dontcha know)




We can go up to the Castle


We can go for a wander in Princes Street Gardens and maybe go up the Scott Monument


And plenty more of that until late afternoon I imagine!

SATURDAY NIGHT
We are in the process of organising a table in a restaurant near to The World for all of us to eat together in before we go out, which will probably be for about 6pm. But Ill post about that when it’s sorted

SUNDAY
Sunday’s activities will depend on how much fun is had on Saturday night Just kidding, I think the best option is to meet somewhere for some lunch and do some more sights. We’ll all be together on Saturday evening so we can discuss it then.

Trains go into Waverley station which is totally central and you shouldn’t have a problem finding your way to where you want to be from there, just jump in a taxi.

Edinburgh airport is about half an hours drive outside of the city and the best way to get into town is to walk straight out the front door, straight ahead to the bus stops and look for the light blue double-deckers which say Edinburgh-airport shuttle (or something like that?) on them. Just jump on and ask for a return ticket, which costs £5 and is open, you can use it again. These drop you right next to Waverley Station funnily enough, and you are immediately surrounded by tour guides, maps and taxis, so you’ll be ok!!

The best recommendation I can give you now is

Theres loads of hotels on there to suit every price range and tastE, including the one I had mentioned previously. Some of them are pretty far away but some are smack bang in the centre of town, so if you dont know what youre doing I suggest you orgnote me or one of the other locals before booking!


And for those of you that want to keep your money for the important things in life, and have no qualms about staying in a (clean, safe and presentable!) hostel, this website should be looked at

Theyre all cheap but certainly not nasty, and some have private rooms that still beat the hotels for price. City centre tourist hostel, Cowgate tourist hostel, city centre guest hostel, Edinburgh backpackers hostel and caledonian backpackers are all right in the centre of town.

Ok, I am caffeined up, hard day at work ahead but with nobody looking over my shoulder and no students to piss me off I will be making a few phone calls to firm up venues for Friday and Saturday Night.

Saturday daytime is still up for grabs but the current thought is a walking tour of the London sights finishing up with a Tower of London visit for those wiling to pay the 13 quid group entrance fee. There is option for Tate modern either at the same time as Tower which is free (or after, if you want to do both)

Pubs, beer and food will fit in as we go.
