AnotherLoverToo said: SeattleInvasion said: I understand. I really do. I'm a 1:1 person too, totally, and I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the first Invasion I went to. In reality, my favorite Invasion moments have been when I've snuck away to chat with somebody 1:1, because I'm like that. But I couldn't have gotten to know those people without showing up at the big group events. And I wasn't part of any group before I went to the first one; I had barely spoken to most of the kitties, just 'passed in the halls' over the years. But orgers are the coolest people on Earth and have a way of sucking you into the warmth and hilarity of it all. Not meant to pressure you, just to welcome you. I hear ya, there are a lot of good reasons to attend and I love that others of you do/have/want to do the Invasion thing. It's definitely not an issue of not wanting to meet certain people. (Remember, we had plans for you, Matt and I to meet up one day, and then Quaidbowl happened and I needed a bit of time. I did re-extend the invitation to you and Matt, but never heard anything back on it, so I guess I assumed I wasn't really a welcomed Org persona in your book) One (very personally trusted Orger) has made my acquaintance in person and it was very natural-feeling. Due to your own experiences here, you, Melissa, may also understand my reluctance to possibly put myself in the presence of those few Orgers who have talked smack "behind my back" (as much as that can be done online! ) or may be likely to afterwards. I don't wanna make a big deal of it (sorry if I have already, though there may be a lot of others who feel the same way I do, so perhaps I'm speaking for them, too), and I do want to let you and Muse know that I appreciate extending the idea/offer of community and "fellowship". [Edited 2/14/06 16:20pm] I remember that our intention to get together got lost in the Quaidbowl mess, but I don't remember the subsequent invitation. Anyway, this is a fixable problem. I'll orgnote ya. In my experience, the in-person relationship only makes things better and more civil. But I truly do understand your fears. I was wondering that as well. It does sound like a fun idea though, and worth checking into! They can play DVDs, actually, so we don't have to worry about getting film unless we want to. Great. We'd just want to make sure we show the Canadian version of SOTT, and not the vastly inferior Brazilian release. (Anybody know why there's no U.S. DVD release yet?) If I can't find the Canadian DVD this weekend in Vancouver, I'll order it from amazon.ca. I need it for my collection. If anyone is in Seattle on 3/23 come by our PRINCE vs Michael party at Re-Bar. That's right, we're finally coming up from San Francisco to bring this party to the upper northwest! By the way - if anyone knows any decent hotels/motels in Seattle let me know.

Co-sign. I snagged the one copy in stock at the HMV Megastore in Vancouver. Both the picture and sound quality are excellent, and I haven't even listened to the new 5.1 audio mix. The Canadian SOTT DVD is a must-have if you can play Region 1 (USA and Canada) DVD's. I too would be happy to loan my copy for a Seattle screening if it can be arranged. I highly recommend the W Seattle. It's a wonderful hotel and a quick taxi ride to and from Re-bar. However, it isn't cheap. Rooms for that night start at $297. (In the interest of full disclosure, I should probably state that I own stock in W Hotels' parent company.) Another nice place is the Silver Cloud Hotel--Broadway. It's in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, across I-5 from downtown, and close to Re-bar. Again, a taxi should get you to and from the club inexpensively. The Silver Cloud is offering a $119 Internet rate for that night. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I don't know. This sounds tempting and all. I have not been to Seattle since late October 1999 do know Seattle and I do miss Seattle. It would be nice.
I'll let you all know. Put me down as a "maybe" for now. Maybe I can catch a Mariners game? Oh wait, no. Just my luck, the Mariners will be on the road that weekend in Cleveland against my hometown Indians. | |
