That would be fuckin' awesome. You have to get to Chicago for a Prince night, I swear you and I would have a ball talking to the screen. If there are enough people to make the cost reasonable, and there's enough interest, it had crossed my mind to rent a theater (the Landmark chain does this) and do a double-feature of some sort. . . maybe SOTT and Mystery Under the Cherry Moon Theater 2006? If I were hosting a bunch of clones of me, I would rather do that on Saturday evening. I'm not. But I'll put it out there. This would be a great theater to do it at: http://www.cinematour.com...us&id=2866 funky-old-theater edit [Edited 2/13/06 18:14pm] | |

I don't know what Landmark charges, but the small auditorium on the top level is probably much less expensive than the main auditorium. Plus, the Harvard Exit Theatre is across the street from my home, so we could do an afterparty at my place. BTW, you can move me off the "maybe" list. I'm sure I'll participate... in fact, I'll have plenty of paid time off accumulated, and things should be slow at work anyway. I do wonder, though... is it possible to "invade" a city when I'm already living there? Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

When I was looking at a brochure from Landmark one time (at the Metro, though it didn't look theater-specific), there was nothing about price differences for different screens. I think it was $400 (perhaps even including popcorn/soda)? So, let's just say, hypothetically, that you and I were each willing to kick in $50 ( ), and that we had 20 invaders who were each willing to pay an average of $15 on a pay-what-you-can basis for the experience. Not outside the realm of reasonable. Right? I'll look into it. It would be hella fun, and yeah, moving the party to your place would be cool. I wanna see 20 people sitting on your daybed. While a handful of us DO know each other quite well now, there's always room for more (and that's kinda the point). Last year's MiniVasion had a fantastic 'meetNgreet' lunch on Saturday afternoon when many of us met for the first time. Everyone had a grand time and no one felt excluded. It seemed people went out of their way to make sure they got a chance to chat up every person there. ANd for many folks, it was the only 'event' they were able to attend. Of course, those who hang out alomst non-stop for 72 hours create more of a bond. But, I think everyone felt more connected after... I won't peer pressure you at all just consider it. I hear ya, there are a lot of good reasons to attend and I love that others of you do/have/want to do the Invasion thing. It's definitely not an issue of not wanting to meet certain people. (Remember, we had plans for you, Matt and I to meet up one day, and then Quaidbowl happened and I needed a bit of time. I did re-extend the invitation to you and Matt, but never heard anything back on it, so I guess I assumed I wasn't really a welcomed Org persona in your book) One (very personally trusted Orger) has made my acquaintance in person and it was very natural-feeling. Due to your own experiences here, you, Melissa, may also understand my reluctance to possibly put myself in the presence of those few Orgers who have talked smack "behind my back" (as much as that can be done online! ) or may be likely to afterwards. I don't wanna make a big deal of it (sorry if I have already, though there may be a lot of others who feel the same way I do, so perhaps I'm speaking for them, too), and I do want to let you and Muse know that I appreciate extending the idea/offer of community and "fellowship". "Local," at least for now. I may even be able to help as a "Host," depending upon how things are going at work, etc. When I was looking at a brochure from Landmark one time (at the Metro, though it didn't look theater-specific), there was nothing about price differences for different screens. Seems reasonable to me. I just wonder whether that price includes the cost of renting a film copy/copies of whatever will be shown. Somehow I doubt it. I'll look into it. It would be hella fun, and yeah, moving the party to your place would be cool. I wanna see 20 people sitting on your daybed.

Just for the record, it certainly wasn't my intent to ignore your invitation or imply that your presence wasn't welcome.
