zaara

I would rather not have a karaoke cause it stops the flow of the party. If it was in a separate room for the people that want it that would b better what about in the toilets....u dont get to pee until u sing a prince line? (only joking) No to karaoke Please.
Instead of having a competition for best dressed or dancer can we have a contest of who is the smallest prince fan there..I would have more of a chance in winning then.

I think as there doesn't seem to be that much positivity for this, then maybe we should give it a miss..

The main danceroom is on the top floor. I think there is a dancefloor down in the basement, but last time I went nobody was dancing down there, in fact later on there was hardly anyone down there at all, mostly they occupied the ground and upper floor. If you had the karaoke in the basement, I wouldn't mind, but not the main disco floor - it really is upto the organisers to come out and clarify where the karaoke would be held.

The karaoke contest (subject to the response we get here on the org) will happen on the Saturday night of the weekender and last around 1 ½ hrs. It will take place away from the main dance floor (top floor) which will continue pumping out the Prince jams for those who are not interested in watching a karaoke.

For the peeps who dont understand...if it happens it will take place in either the basement or ground floor. NOT the main (top) dance floor.

Anyways... poll closes today... results tomorrow (friday).

Peace

Ahh... I really should have read your original post a bit slower...

Well, if the main dancefloor is gonna be uneffected, then it's not a problem. Therefore I withdraw my vote against and just abstain. I don't like karaoke but I don't want to stop anyone having any fun.

Thanks mellow. A mention for me!!!

The quiz could be held during the next day(Saturday). I know alot of people wouldn't mind meeting up during the day. Mainly the pissheads (Cammille, JD, Mellow and me) But we could arrange something and whoever does the quiz backs up the answers with photocopies of the answers? It might work and could be a good exercise to get everyone chatting prior to alcohol consumption?

What do you all think?

Ewwww...no thanks. I agree with Metalorange that it interrupts the flow of the evening. I hear what you're saying about the upstairs still playing grooves for those who don't want to join in, but it's still putting me off the Saturday night now! sad

How about a quiz as Savage (and possibly others) suggested? Pay for a form where you go in if you want to join in, then you hand in your completed form by, say 11pm, and the winners are called out at midnight or something? That doesn't interrupt the flow of the evening, and you can fill in the quiz over the course of the evening.

Of course you'd need to find some really difficult questions which would be a lot of hard work....and no doubt there would be some dispute about some of the answers because there's always some smart arse who professes to know absolutely everything and will argue about the spelling of a song title, year of a release, etc etc.

But these are my thoughts ... just thought I'd share.

Quiz packs (questions complete with answers) are being prepared as we speak by Moonwrap (of the London Meet-ups) and will be given away at the party on friday night. Just ask for one at the reception desk at the venue. They can be taken away and completed by indiviuals or as a group.

There are several places near the barbican or other places in London where peeps can go to during the saturday afternoon (see ideas for sat afternoon thread)... For those who don't want to travel far...there is a pub just across the road of the citadel hotel called The Shakespeare which serves reasonable pub food...

Prior to alcohol consumption??

thatd be a bit difficult for those of us who consume upon waking up!

anyways, the real pissheads should be going to vinopolis in the day and show what theyre made of!
