Detroit Katrina Fundraiser: Sept. 24 Love4OneAnother

In light of the recent catastrophic events of Hurricane Katrina that decimated the Gulf Shores region of the United States, people from all over Metro Detroit, Michigan, Ohio, the Midwest, the entire United States, Canada, Mexico, and other countries around the world, have stepped to the front in relief efforts. After deciding what to do for a few weeks on a club level, fellow Motor Baby orgaizer Peggy has decided that this month's Detroit Crawl Housequake Houseparty a fundraiser for the hurricane relief victims. Simply entitled, "Love4OneAnother," The Detroit Crawl will host this special fundraising event this Saturday, Sept. 24. Our goal is to raise additional relief funds, clothing, canned / non-perishable food, and toiletries. Everything raised and donated this Saturday night will be forwarded off to the Southeastern Michigan chapter of the American Red Cross.

Although we don't normally ask for an entrance fee to an event like this, we are asking a cash donation or a clothing/food/ toiletries donation. In return, we will have raffles and auctions of Prince memorabilia to raise more funds for Katrina Relief. We are also considering hosting an evauee family from the Gulf Coast region that has been displaced by Katrina. So, please come in the Love4OneAnother spririt, enjoy the company of your fellow motor babies, some new and old Prince funk, because this is what it's all about. Saturday's quake kicks off at 8pm and will be located at 8660 Grayfield in Dearborn Heights - sight of many previous Crawl housequakes.

Any questions? staff@thedetroitcrawl.org or peggy@thedetroitcrawl.org

Well, we succeeded. It was a great success. We raised some money and received bags upon bags of clothing, toys, and
cleaning supplies for hurricane relief. Now that Hurricane Rita created more of a mess in the gulf region of Texas
and Louisiana, more help is needed. The Detroit Crawl is still collecting donations through the week and we hear that
Peggy, our ever-gracious host for the evening, will be contacting the Red Cross to drop off the monies raised as well as
the clothes and other donations for hurricane relief victims. We hope the Red Cross will distribute the clothes and items
and forward the Detroit Crawl money donate to those displaced by Hurricane Katrina who are now living in Southeastern
Michigan. We raised some money and collected clothing and the like - but the charitable effort will go a long way, all in
the spirit of Love4OneAnother.

We'll see you at our October Housequake next month. Complete details coming before the the of the month. And if you missed out
on Saturday evening's fundraising event and you would still like to contribute, you can at our next Housequake in October.
