i've also had a couple more ppl who r looking in2 making the trip from down south and even rumours of ppl traveling from further afield. zaraa also tells me she has a few ppl coming and she knows a few more that r interested, so the numbers r certainly building up. once we have the details confirmed we will b able 2 get more confirmations and more ppl interested, so we could b looking at a group of about 50 folks, which is enough 2 make the place look reasonably full

hopefully we'll b able 2 show prince dvds on the kareoke machine 2, i have a load i've compiled myself of interesting stuff, including all the recent tv shows, so there is plenty of potential

the worst that can happen is we all turn up and get pissed and talk a load of shite about prince and regret the photos when they r put online

Hi folks. Just back from my trip to the Highlands. I've been stuck near John O'Groats for 2 days. I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

Good news - the venue is booked and confirmed!
Whether we have the place to ourselves is dependent upon numbers.
Prince music can, and will be played all night along with some karaoke, if the owner can get hold of some more Prince tunes on his system.
I'll make sure he stocks up on champagne for zaara and tequila for cammille. Let me know of any further requests (within reason!).

i'll provide the music, and i will compile all the prince instrumentals 2gether that can b used as kareoke (avoiding all the dodgy crappy cover versions)

if u go 2 www.yell.co.uk u can key in "the world" in the 2nd search box, and "edinburgh" in the bottom box, and i think the venue is on the 2nd page of replies, so u can find all the details there and a map of the venue. essentially thistle street is a few yards from prince's street, or just around the corner from a well known piano bar called fingers

4 accomodation, checkout bed and breakfasts, or guest houses in either macdonald road or pilrig street, both r walkable from the venue in between 20-30 mins depending on how drunk u r and how slow u walk. prices between £25-£45 per person per nite. it's not a dodgy area, they r kinda family run places, more than fine 4 crashing after a nite out, cost u £6 or something 2 get 2 and from the venue by taxi, or u can get a bus dead easy

4 travel, waverley train station or st andrews square bus station r both about 5 mins walk from the venue, or 15 mins walk from either of the aforementioned streets, or £5 in a taxi. by plane, dunno easyjet costs, but taxi from airport 2 either street is about £15/£20 max depending on traffic. u have 4 weeks, so booking a train ticket now should get u the best deals. i suggest train as the best mode of transportation. again, yell will get u the maps and details u need

regarding times, it depends on what time the place normally opens, i think the licence is till 1am, so as ppl r coming from afar i would suggest something like 7pm start as it's a saturday. is the venue open all day? what i can do is compile a cd or 2 of prince related material, like stuff that influenced prince, that he covered, stuff that a pub would play normally, but just happens 2 have that prince connection, so it can b played just b4 the nite starts, 2 move the music from 1 genre 2 another, and so folks turning up early have something cool 2 listen 2. if i make this in advance they can play it themselves 2 get used 2 the music. i might even give them a cd so they can get used 2 the music we're going 2 b playing

if we make the official start around 7pm, we can arrange 2 meetup with folks from out of town earlier in the day and get something 2 eat, etc.

i'll pass the details on and get the flyers and website finalised so we r up and running 4 this bank holiday weekend
