in order 2 get as many ppl 2 come 2 this event as possible, and help ensure a future of further more regular events, it would b appreciated if every1 could help out by alerting other fans 2 this thread and 2 the planned party

a good way 2 do this would b if the folks who went 2 previous meetups in the uk orgnoted or emailed those who went 2 other meetups but havent yet posted on this thread

for xample, an easy way 2 do this for xample is 4 folks who went 2 the manc meetup 2 orgnote the other folks who went 2 that, or xpressed an interest in it, by going 2 the threads of those meetups, and orgnoting the names on the list. likewise if some1 wants 2 orgnote the names of folks who went 2 the scottish meetups. there r a number of names of folks on those threads who im sure would b interested in coming, but they may not have checked the appropriate forum yet

i think the way things r going is that we r going 2 have a decent set of numbers, plus an easy 2 get 2 city centre venue that will allow us a room 2 ourselves 2 play prince music. as edinburgh is easy 2 get 2 and the accomodation is plentiful and not xpensive, im sure we can persuade a load of the folks from further down south 2 come up. i'm thinking in particular the manchester folks

would some1 like camile like 2 volunteer in getting the manc folks 2 come up, and would some1 like muirdo like 2 volunteer in getting the rest of the scottish folks interested?

another thing, i don't go on housequake much, so if some1 is more well known on HQ, perhaps u would like 2 stoke up some interest over there, pming known scottish fans (which there seem 2 b a fair few) and asking them 2 come. i don't consider this an org or hq meetup, more a prince meetup, so hopefully folks can put aside the org vs hq difference

if we can get confirmation of a greater set of numbers than we could have originally thought, there is the possibility we could get a bigger venue and do something more large scale like a full on prince party, but i think we need 2 show that every1 is committed 2 coming 2 this event 1st as proof that we can pull off something big up north

does any1 else have any other ideas 2 help out?

i will help as much as i can....i will post details of the meetup on any websites that have prince fans and if you put a poster online somewhere(even this website will do) i will copy it and stick it up in various locations around glasgow.once venue is confirmed, we can start getting things moving.

i've posted the date on the housequake site.unique can u get those flyers sorted and send me some and i will distribute them around my area.u don't have long to get word out so be quick!oops i'm being bossy now,,,sorry can't help it.

i've already asked some1 2 design a poster/flyer thats black and white so it can b printed on office laser printers and b/w photocopied easily and cheaply, but at the same time still looks good after copying, the dates and venue information can then b easily added and amended. the person i've asked can also do websites, so the idea is 2 create the poster as a jpg and make that a webpage/website, so any1 can download and print out the image as flyers or posters. i'll also stick a specific email address on the website so folks can email 4 more details (ie. folks who aint on the org, etc, who may have picked up a flyer or saw the poster)

if any1 can get copies of the poster on noticeboards in colleges and universities, particularly in edinburgh and glasgow, i'm sure we can get a number of ppl 2 come as a result

as off this saturday 23rd, we have 5 weeks 2 organise everything, which i think is the right timeframe, its long enuff 2 organise everything and long enuff 4 folks 2 book travel and accomodation and time off work, but at the same time its not so long that ppl will get impatient or change thier mind or not know what they r doing at the time. if they can get a new pope in less than 5 weeks, i'm sure we can get a new government and arrange a prince party in the same time

i've had a few responces from ppl down south who r interested, but the distance is concerning them a bit. i think if we can get more folks from down south on board we have a better chance of persuading more 2 come up. about 2 or 3 times a year, we get this thing called sun in scotland and it stops raining. u wouldnt want 2 miss that 4 the earth

I spoke to my mate who owns the venue. He is well up for this and so are his staff, although they did admit to having a laugh about it to start with!
He said that he will call me back either tonight or tomorrow to confirm Saturday 28th May. He will also help us to advertise it.
If you have any ideas for the night, send me an orgnote or leave a message here and I'll put it to him.

things seem 2 b going well so far anyways, within a week we got a venue booked, and more folks coming than we originally thought last week, so with 5 weeks of advertising locally and online we could have a nice little party

its understandable the staff laughing, i xpect that completely, but i find that once the party is in full swing or afterwards, the staff r always pleasantly surprised that the folks who turn up r just cool normal folks out 2 party, and the music isn't as bad as they thought it would b. this all helps, cuz if they dont like the crowd and the staff dont like the music its not as easy 2 get another booking, but if the staff and management like what they c they will welcome us back. certainly if they do well at the bar they will welcome us back. and judging by previous nites ive been involved with, the bar does xtremely well

btw, it seems we will b getting the whole venue 2 ourselves, altho everything is still 2 b finalised. the place is about 10 mins walk from pivot, or 5 mins from the bus station or train station.
