Here it is...the info for Purple Positive!

What: A one off night by the folks who brought you Superfunkycalifragisushi (which is taking a month off), we take it to a special place and day. We'll be serving up the usual courses of funk and videos. This time we will have Glam Slam drink specials (from back in the day) and guest DJ Rawlove from The Dreamfactory playing for you his purple set...and a few other surprises.

A night not to be missed - bringing positivity to the Bay Area - Purple Positive.

I just saw a post about this on Housequake thanks to Candace I'm really loveing the flyer. I hope to be able to go if it's ok with Candace this time I want to bring my camrecorder with me as well to do some live video footage.

Hey Bob what size t-shirt do you wear ? I want to make you like a t-shirt with a Prince picture on front and then it will say something like Bob The DJ then it be really cool for all the people going to like sign the back of it then you can like put it on. I overheard last time that you only had one Prince t-shirt so this time you can have another Prince t-shirt to add to your collection.

I just finish uploading pictures from Purple Positive 4/15/05 a total
of 80 pictures are now up in the gallery to look at I had a fun time
seeing everyone that came.

All pictures are 640 width 480 height or 480 width 640 height (some
might be a different size like the artwork ones) to view the pictures
to a bigger size click on a thumbnail (small picture) the image will
appear a bit bigger, but if you want to see the full sizeonce you
click on the thumbnail it will appear a bit bigger but it won't be the
actual size so then just click on it again you will get apopup window
of the image real size. I hope I'm clear on how to seethe images
bigger let me know if you have any problems oh and you aremore than
welcome to save any pictures if you have a windows do a right click on
yourmouse and do a save as and for a mac just point your mouse to the
image and drag it to the desktop.

Hey Everyone...

Big Thank you to all that showed up and partied! I had a great time...got to dance a lil bit too. Everyone seemed to have a great time...including the staff. The music was just awesome, I thought.

I still haven't found out if we can do this again at Soluna, but I am hoping so. On that note...there will be no more Superfunkycalifragisushi...i.e. No more O2 bar. It's pretty obvious that these gatherings are a lil bit bigger than that place. Ontop of that we need to be at a place where the sound and service is better too. This also means that these gatherings will not be monthly anymore. What I am hoping for is a bimonthly at Soluna and if not there, somewhere else. But I am going to make these a little less frequent. Until I can find a place that is big enough to fit all you guys and yet is cool enough for a "thin" night (I mean lets face it...everyone is not going to come out to all of them), I'll have to do it this way.

Purple Positive is not going away...it has only begun.

Tina been mentioning to me that she would like to do a picknic in the part out there in SF maybe next month or sometime during the summer time. I know she mention that she would like for you to be the DJ if it ever goes through it would be like a potluck event also bring a dish for it sounds like fun, and we can like play games also to make it even more funner, kaokee would be cool to sing along to favorite Prince songs. I would love to see the pictures you took by the way who was that one man with the black t=shirt with the 0(+> symbol I saw him with a camera, but I forgot his name. If you look in my gallery, you will see a picture of him holding up a digital camera we both took a shot of eachother taking pictures lol.

Actually it hasn't been expensive, really. That only comes from the big parties. Only this last time did I have any expenses (DJ and Doorman) and I covered those with the door. So I pretty much break even or come out with a few bucks in my pocket...enough to buy a plant (and sustain my addiction to them). If I have a great time and everyone else does that's all I need for a successful evening.

I am starting to get a good feel for the nightlife situation and what bars expect out of an evening. Some ask for a bar guarantee, like the bigger parties at clubs. Others like Soluna set a "goal" to hit and if you do, you can do more. Souluna set my night pretty high. So I hope I came close to he goal and that they had such a good time, I can do it again...it's the best I can hope for. You see about 5-6 years ago...all these places were doing good...nay great. Now...they can barely pay rent. So that adds into the mix. Unfortunately, it's not about the crowd or the music it's about what the bar makes.

Then there are other places like the O2 bar that tip me based on how the bar does. WHich is ideal as I have no goal moneywise. However, there are compromises, like space size (imagine everyone on Friday at the O2 Bar), Sound...O2 again on Saturday (on what should have been a Prince night) had serious sound issues (the sound popped out several times , they knocked over the dj's cds etc) Imagine dancing to P and the sound be all janky. And the service...even if it's not a full bar, they should have everything they say they are going to offer. Again O2 was practically empty and the manager (who you all love ...note sarcasm) took 20 min to get a drink for my friend. I simply cannot subject you guys to that. There are MANY other reasons for leaving the O2 bar...but those go back about 2 years.

So, I'll get off my box now. Not meaning to air my dirty shirts in here...but some want to know. So those are my reasons for not doing O2 bar. And to realistically do this in a bigger place, I need to space them out a bit. I really enjoy doing this and getting to know you guys...but I want to do it right...so I can keep doing it.
