the abbotsford is where abbie stayed the last time, i think it was £25 a nite, no ensuite bathroom tho, and they only take cash, but it's a nice enuff place, and fraoch was where ian (ex org moderator) stayed, i think £35 a nite.

there r plenty of B&B's in edinburgh near the meetup venue, www.yell.co.uk checkout edinburgh and look 4 places in either pilrig street or macdonald road, as they r within walking distance from the city centre (maybe 15-20 mins slow walk from the bus station or train station, abbotsford maybe 25 mins walk), but a taxi would b less than £5, or u can get the 11 bus, or any bus down leith and walk along

u should get a place easily 4 £40 or less, its off season, and i don't know of any dodgy places in the locality.

give those places a phone and c what the deal is, and if u need more help or info, post here or orgnote me"

those r the hotels in edinburgh that yell.co.uk pulls up that r closeby and possibly reasonably priced and not a dump afaik. there r other places that come up but i know r xpensive, like mal maison, scotstman, calidonian, etc

if u can, i would call each of them and c how much they r, and then call the bnbs i told u about and then make up ure mind, u can always orgnote me with prices etc and ask my opinion b4 u book. at this time of year and this close, i dont think waiting a day or 2 2 book is gonna make much difference"

with the hotels, please call them all 1st and check prices and availability b4 booking so u know ure getting a good price

remember www.yell.co.uk is a gr8 site 2 find anything, and when u find the places u want u can click on a map 2 c where it is and get postcodes u can put in2 mapquest, so u can c xactly how far a hotel is from a venue etc, whether by foot or car. the further away place is the apex, which is prolly only about £6 away at nite (higher rates) by taxi

the bnb's in pilrig st and macdonald road r normally verry popular with tourists, they seem 2 have lots of plaques on the walls where they got awards, its not dodgy placess out of the 60s, and u should get a place under £40 easy
