I'm actually working for the organization (IFP) that is putting on this show. I don't think anybody has mentioned it, but there's also going to be a PRINCE PURPLE RAIN COSTUME CONTEST, with FIRST PRIZE being $500. Come as your favorite character from "Purple Rain" and have a chance at winning $500. You'll be judged on creativity, authenticity, and presentation. Pass the word on to all your friends so this can be an amazing event!

It says 6pm for the time. Is that just what time the doors will be opening or will the viewing of the movie start around 6pm? That's a little early for a Saturday night don't you think? I won't be able to make it there until around 7-7:30. You think I'll miss anything?

So how was the party last night? I was unable to attend. I've had the flu for the last couple of days and didn't want to be spreadin' it around.

I left right after the movie, because - here's where I sound like an old man - I had to get to the grocery store. Was expecting company the following day. I think it was just okay. The few people that were there were having a good time, but I'd expect more than 100 people or so on a Saturday night at First Ave, especially for a 20th anniversary Purple Rain showing. And only 3 people in costume. I had fun watching it with my boyfriend, chatting with Endorphin, re-meeting Carrie, and all that but just a good, not a great night.

I thought it was great regardless of the number of people who turned up..I will admit i was somewhat dissapointed in that. But It was incredible for me to see it THERE as i was only 14/15 when the movie came out so i was never able to be on the scene so-to-speak. I had a blast- ran into some great people I have not seen in a while. my lil sis took 2nd place and it was her 1st time to minni!!!! (too bad we didn't get in the appolonia 6 get-ups..hehehe we would have been in 1st! lol)
we were also a little surprised that they only played a few prince tunes after the movie.. we were all dancin' havin a fantastic time..then they stopped the music-- changed up with other stuff and sho' nuff...the lot of us left... U would think they would have continued with the P music..
But for me...it will be a treasured trip!

Still, 1st Ave had a golden opportunity here. With all the buzz round Prince lately they should've had an all nite party which was heavily promoted. The could've packed the joint and kept it rocking thru the nite. Instead, they threw a 1/2 assed party and sent everyone running.

BUT BESIDES THAT I HAD A FANTASTIC TIME ..I CAME IN 2ND PLACE FOR THE COSTUME CONTEST ..YEP MISS LACE HERE WON THE DVD AND A GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR A$100 AT A RESTRAURANT NAME VIC'S ..OMG THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD . I WILL BE COMING BACK ..
