Sly # 3 is off the Mo Fo chain! That groove is wicked!!!
Intoxication, is some wet nasty old school! Bootsy would love this. Do you work with any singers, you should hit Vima up or someone and put some flows on top of this stuff, it hot!

I love Church (with no air conditioner 2 seep out da funk version). These songs are album material and just are beggin for some kinda jazzy sultry singer to just got damn kill on these tracks. I first listened 2 Intoxication, that was groovy, had me bobbin my head...but I am feelin Chuuuch mo betta my brutha. It is definitley a bumpin ass old skool, dun' back in dem' Alabama funk fields one mo gain soul. Sly!!!! I LOVE THIS!!! I 4got what song this is a take from, but man...I WANT THOSE HANDCLAPS! Where did u get them? Damn now i gotta search through my latest cd's for those snares. Man i cannot believe this though... How come these funk jams are not crossing the border..how come no one in your hoetown knows of these jams. I would HATE 2 c them just dissapear if something ever happened 2 u. And when u gonna record an album 4 me my brutha? Straight Jacket Funk Affair

There are some songs that just sound like dirty southern swamp funk (i.e. Ohio Players "Far East Mississipi", Roberta Flack "River") If anyone has ever been to a southern church out in the boondocks, hopefully that same spirit gets evoked in the music of "Chu'ch" Sly!!!! I LOVE THIS!!! I 4got what song this is a take from, but man...I WANT THOSE HANDCLAPS! Where did u get them? Damn now i gotta search through my latest cd's for those snares.
You've gotta let me know what song you're hearing. I had Sly's 'Poet' on the brain and wound up mixing in some elements of The Roots 'Respond/React'. Those handclaps are mine... sampled and looped... but mine. I got lazy and didn't feel like recording 3 or 4 tracks of overdubbed handclaps. Man i cannot believe this though...
How come these funk jams are not crossing the border..how come no one in your hoetown knows of these jams. I would HATE 2 c them just dissapear if something ever happened 2 u. And when u gonna record an album 4 me my brutha? This is just a hobby for me. I don't have the discipline it takes to be professional about this. And deep down, I'm a huge chicken-shit. You see how long it's taking me to finish up "He Goes Away From Me". As always, thanks for listening bruh.

VERY NICE as always. I haven't heard your shizz in awhile and I like this stuff. When are you giong to start putting these together into a full album? I think you yourself said that your songs are mostly just ideas - grooves that go for a few minutes and then end.
Are you thinking about adding some solos over this stuff, or are you holding out for a vocalist to take the songs somewhere else? The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Sly has a "Poet" influence (from There's A Riot Going On). I had the pull the CD out 2 get it. I know it's a hobby man, but I would be terribly upset if some1 was making funk classics right next door 2 me and i never even knew of it. Im not professional about it either, but it's nice 2 get another ear or 2, but most of the time its hard because nobody cares...sometimes not even your best friend, which is sad. Chuch sounds like it is from dem down hum back way past Shalomo's house down deah on greenback road chuuuch funk. I highly would suggest u record an album man. At least 4 me! Are you thinking about adding some solos over this stuff, or are you holding out for a vocalist to take the songs somewhere else? Thanks Beau. I don't know what I'm gonna do with this stuff. I guess I am holding out for vocalists, a saxophonist or something to help flesh out these ideas. I used to write tons of lyrics back in high school and now whenever I write I feel like the lyrics are just as juvenile as they were then. Izaiah is the only one so far who has taken the challenge of writing lyrics to some of it. But I leave the door open to anyone who wants to try.

Porn Music?! Didn't you read it? Prince has already pushed the envelope as far as it can go, so stop already!
Seriously, very cool track. For some reason, I keep imagining hearing that one live in some club where everybody's bodies are movin' 'cause the groove is too tight to just bob yer head to. What's the use of being young if you ain't gonna get old

It's real guitar, but I really don't know how to play. Like someone sitting at a typewriter who can't type, I hunt and peck until it sounds decent... so, yeah it probably comes across as midi Thanks for listening. [This message was edited Sun Jun 27 14:59:01 2004 by psykosoul]

Hey man ,no offence intended ,was curious, and pretty damn sure the guitar sound was Guitar. Certainly sounds 'Real' decent. 'Soul, you are very self depreciating, i hope U don't mind me saying, as everyone just about has remarked 'there's an album' to compile with all your tracks on Soundclick! I dont know you as such but i think U've got a lot of maturity , and with that an acceptance that the work 2 put out an album would be taxing, but hey what else is there but 2 put it together; your half way there Paisleypark4 : Man i cannot believe this though...

And I'm truly not fishing for compliments, but everyone here serves as an inspiration for me and I really value the opinions here. Everyone here contributes something that makes me want to try different things and try to be a little better with each recording.

Is this all you? I'm thinkin' it is. My Fav is the Sly tune, it has a lot of depth and seems like it could go on forever with different little things going on. I'm assuming you called it that because the casio-type beat? Intoxication has a phat bass line with a cool groove. Porn music makes me, umm...think. please tell me that the woman is a real one and not a sample. Chu'ch (East Texas w/no AC version) - love the guitar! love the whole damn tune. That BS about the guitar just doesn't matter, you know what it should sound like in the song and a lot of guitarists never get that. Outtake #5 is just as solid and really shows off your keyboard skills So sometimes the drums sound live and other times it sounds programmed, are you taking care of both? thoughts - edit [This message was edited Tue Jun 29 11:15:06 2004 by Slave2daGroove]
